Default Towing Issue

New to forum and getting the run around at the dealership. When towing a trailer over 3,000lbs I have a vibration in the front end. It is worse at 80km / 50mph where the steering wheel is shaking. It is a 1500, 2010 with a Hemi. Not sure if is the new style or the "ECO" part of the engine when under power...anyone else out there experiencing this????

Glad you joined us and welcome to the Z for Rams from Baltimore . I'm not up on my 2010 models . Do you have a tow/haul button ? Sounds like a question for Randy (Remerson228) . He's our factory tech here . If you could go to the top of the page to the User Cp and complete your profile that would be great . Helps us see what you have when your posting a question or comment . Do you have any pictures of your truck ? Have you done any mods or have plans for any ? Any of your friends have Rams ? Tell them about us . We would love to have them . You will find this site is full of a lot of talented people . So if theres any question that you need answered , just shoot away . Talk to ya soon . Tom

That does not sound right. How much of a load are you towing? Does the rear lower quite a bit under the load?

I'd take it to the dealer with the trailer hooked up and take a tech for a drive.

Welcome to the Z! MADDOG has a great idea there, load up the trailer, and take a tech for the drive. I noticed you put down kms, are you up in Canada? Also, does it vibrate without the trailer attached? And if it's in the fornt end, then I doubt it's driveline related so you can rule out the MDS/VVT as a source, but y'never know.

Welcome you to the forum,
This forum is full of great looking trucks, and packed with great mod ideas and there are loads of knowledgeable and experienced people here.

Any chance that with the trailer connected that you have too much tongue weight! If the trailer lowers the back of the truck any more than 2-3", it is likely too much. Since I recently moved from a 2500 to a 1500, and I regularly pull a trailer that weighs 6500lb, I tested the affect of heavy tongue to see how the new 1500 would handle it. When I grossly overloaded the tongue, the back of the truck dropped about 5", and I experienced a shake in the front end at as low as 30mph. If you are not tongue heavy, then as MADDOG suggests, take it to the dealer with the trailer in tow.

AND - We all like pix! Got any to share?

Enjoy the Z!
