What if you had the correct key in your pocket, and turned the ignition w/ the wrong key? I'm assuming the range of the keys isn't far enough, but it might be a simple test!

I imagine that would probably work; but ideally I'm wondering if a small "stub key" could be made to be left in the ignition switch while the real key stays in your pocket.

I seriously doubt it because of the range of the WIN system. I can have a key within 18 inches of the WIN module and it wont detect it.

That wouldnt work the key has to be almost touching the switch for it to read the key..

To be able to start the truck with the key in your pocket first thing you would have to have a keyless go key (not avail. on the ram)they are different than your key they look the same on the outside but inside there very different. then you would have to have a passive entry module which you would have to hardwire into the canbus system and a couple recievers to (see) the kg key then after you have all the hardware in place here comes the software issue and here's where it gets sticky because you cant change the configuration to accept the passive entry module on the network. And no the dealer does not have access to do this I wish we did....

Passive entry kicks ass. Too bad it's not offered on the highline Rams.

I had this on my 2008 Nissan Armada that I traded in. It's really the only thing I miss about the Armada. As long as I had the key fob within 3 feet of the vehicle, I could use the push button on the door handle to unlock the door and start it without putting the key into the ignition. I never had to take my keys out of my pocket. I've had my Ram for 3 weeks and still try to push the door handle button to unlock it and start the truck without the key.
