Default overheating V-10 1996 PU

I replaced my radiator cap a while back when my pu was overheating and have had problems ever since. I love this pu so have stored it and only drive occasionally.

Now getting around to solving the problem we checked for a head gasket out but what we found is the radiator cap replacement isn't deep enough to seat properly and create pressure. I checked with my dealer and no deeper caps available. I know this is a factory unit as I spoke with the first owner I bought it from 10 yrs ago. The dealer it came from isn't in business now so can't contact him.

A normal cap is about 1/8 inch too shallow to seat. has anyone run into this problem?
