Default Media Center Question Please

I have a new 2010 Dodge Ram Hemi with the 430 REN media center. I'v downloaded some songs from a CD disc to the hard drive in the truck. The music downloads great but for some reason the titles of the songs dont show up on the touch screen. They only show up as Track 1, Track 2, etc etc. Any one out there have any suggestions or help ? Thanks alot.

I forget whether the radio bases its song title display on the actual filename of the MP3 files on disk or on the 'Title' in the files tags. Either way, I think you just need to figure out which of those your files are lacking and then add them. You'll have to purge the songs from your radio and re-load them again after you fix them on your PC.

We've found when loading songs onto the hard drive in our Challenger (I don't have the media center in my Ram) that it's best to do it from a USB drive. It's faster, and the file names can be tweaked (right click and choose properties, pretty much everything can be adjusted) before they're loaded on the vehicle hard drive.

good luck

I forgot to mention that these songs are purchased and stored on I tunes. I'v tried burning them within the itunes burner and it will not let me burn to MP3 format. I use the "audio" selection and after copying to a CDR the titles indeed show up when played on the truck CD player. Its just when I download them to the REN that the titles dont show up. I'v tried the flash drive trick as well and the REN wont recognize anything being on the flash drive to download even though the itune songs are on it.

Have you tried putting them on your Ipod and then downloading from the Ipod to the HDD?

I downloaded a bunch of my tunes from my Ipod, but they were originally on CD, not Itunes.

Check the file format... some file types will show up as track 1.... can't recall the correct format though. I remembering seeing this in the owners manual.

I think I may be dead in the water trying to download itunes. Thinkin they have them protected to the point that its impossible to transfer them. Guess I'll just stick with the CD's and use the REN for other tunes outside the itune base.
Thanks for tryin guys. Any other ideas I'll keep trying.

try going into windows explorer. instead of transferring the files to a flash drive using iTunes, try doing it using windows explorer... doing the "copy" and "paste" routine.

I'm pretty sure even when using iTunes, the songs are stored somewhere on your computer, if you know where to find 'em, then you should be able to do the copy and paste thing.

I hate iTunes, it's always got to take complete control, and it's only compatible with the "i" devices.

most everything purchased from itunes is DRM protected. There are programs that you can use to take that out, most of them cost money and it is a kind of a pain. I have yet to use the mygig as I just threw my ipod in there and forgot about it. I am not sure how the media centers in the Dodges handle the DRM so I am afraid I cant help you with that.
