Default My 05 Ram 1500 Stalls out..PLEASE HELP!!!

Truck Runs Great.. When I come to a stop, motor Idles down then stalls. But it starts right back up. I had a problem last week driving to work and check Gage light came on. (Not check engine) and my temp gage was pinned to Hot. Pulled truck over and let set untill cooled down. Later that day changed out thermostat and now truck temp gage runs in the middle. would that have something to do with it stalling? Thanx

It's possible that it could. A dirty throttle body could also be part of the problem. Check out this thread. http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=46764

That sucks. I have the same issue with my truck stalling when I stop but it never has been pinned on the HOT side...always stays in the middle but over the weekend I took my truck in to the shop and figured out the Torque Converter isnt doing its job and in turn kills the truck. I read on a different forum the '02-'07 Rams are known for issues with the torque converter. Not saying this is the problem, but it sounds identical to my issue. If I put the truck in N before stopping, she wont stall out. Again though, I never had issues with my truck running HOT. Cleaning the Throttle body is simple and cheap, so I would start there before doing anything else. If you still have the same issue, I would def. check the Torque Converter. Good Luck-

Welcome to the Z. I agree with Ramtech, start with the easy and cheap, clean the TB.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

I took the truck to the dealer and they put it on the reader, there was no codes. They said my throttle body was dirty but everything else looked great. So after $250. later and a clean throttle body my truck is still doing the same thing. I'm pissed!!! Now they say It could be the EGR sensor, and for $320 they can change it! M109R What did they do fix your torque Converter? Also would your Tranny take a few seconds to catch when you first put it to drive. Thanx

Had a 03 that was doing the same thing but not running hot, I changed the TPS and that fixed the problem.
Hope this helps!

I've got the same issue...
My truck has been taking a few seconds to catch when I first put into drive and it stalls when I come to a stop (but only about 10% of the time). The check gauges light has come on twice and stayed on only until I turned the engine off. The next time I'd start, the light would be off.
Interestingly, the catch delay has been happening for some time, but the stalling began just a few weeks ago after I got the routine transmission service that was due.
Any ideas?
