Default Electric trailer brake plug

I cannot find the coupling under the dash for the brake connector. I was told it would be a blue connector. I have a controller to install but cannot locate the coupling or where it goes at the rear by the towbar. The fuse box under the hood has a set of fuses saying electric brakes and trailer lights.
There is a white plug with many wires going into it just under the steering wheel and the other plug to the left of it for the computer input but thats all I can find.
I have a 2002 4.7 standard cab 2 wd 1500 (Canadian)
Any help please.
Here is a photo of what I thought was the connection plug

You're looking for a blue rectangular plug with 4 terminals.

It's probably taped up to a part of the wiring harness and tucked way up underneath.

Have you pulled the lower dash panel(s)?

Ok I will pull the panels and look for it that way. Does it have a plug at the rear end of the truck by the bumper somewhere or is that just the lights plug I see under the back.
Thanks
Paul

If you have the 7 pin trailer plug at the back, does it have the wires under the dash for the electric brake controller?

I'm just guessing here, but does your truck have the tow package? If it doesn't, you may have to start from scratch and wire your truck. I looks as if the plug you found is the place you hook a computer up for error codes.

It's tied off to the right or inboard side of the E-brake near the top. If you can't find it I'll post a pic of it for you. The pic you posted is of the ECM diagnostic port.

Because your asking this question, I am almost positive you do not have the trailer tow package. The trailer connector is immediately to the left of the license plate, and you can't miss it.

If the connector is not beside the license plate, then you do not have the trailer tow package, and the mating connector will not be under the dash.

That being the case, you will likely have to either run all the wiring to the IPM and add any missing relays and fuses....and I'm not sure but you may have to get a dealer to program it's operation.....but not sure on this.

An alternative is to wire into the lights at the back of the truck, but this can sometimes cause havoc with the system. It senses the condition of the light bulbs, and any changes you make could cause issues with the warning system, so if you go this route, I would recommend you use the connection to the lights to operate relays that switch the power to the trailer wiring....which is basically what the factory wiring setup does.

Hope this helps.

Hope this works

This connector should be there even if you don't have the tow package. It is part of the harness.
The seven pin plug may be there even if you didn't order the tow package. Go to the back of the truck lay on your back and look behind the bumper just to a little to the drivers side. You are looking for a connector about one inch square, it may or may not be there. It's cheaper to have the vendor build one harness over two or three. Check it out if it is there then all you need is the factory plug, Mopar part number 56038366AB
