Well first, welcome to the forum, since I see you're new here! Had an '81 D150 myself and all I can say, it had more than a few electrical gremlins, had a constant drain on the battery which I could never find but would drain my battery if I did not disconnect it over night. Good luck in getting it figured out, though I do know what a pain it can be and electrical is definitely not my strong suit, but plenty of helpful folks here, so stick around and someone should be along shortly. In the meantime, be sure to introduce yourself to everyone in the Newbie Checkin and get your official Ram Z welcome!

If the battery doesn't charge the first and most obvious thing to check would be the alternator. Not much for wiring either though.

To confirm whether the alternator is working, start the truck and connect a volt meter across the battery terminals. You should see at least 13vDC.
