well i just got my truck, and looking into a cai for it first and would like a little feed back as to which one people liked the best. not looking to spend more then $300. cant make my mind up so far on the few that ive seen. dont know much about these trucks yet and want to make sure i buy a great intake the first time. For the 4.7 I would just go with a K&N filter. Just my opinion tho.

I went with the Volant CAI. I like the closed box design. Keeps the air charge cooler. It sounds amazing. At WOT most people will think you have an exhaust. When I first bought it I was surprised how much louder the motor sounded. I actually did get about a 1mpg increase but its very hard to keep your foot outta the throttle once you have a CAI. It just sounds so sweet.

Good luck on the decision. Any of the big name brands will do you good. I used to swear by K&N. This time I tried out the Volant and have no complaints at all.

I have a K&N on my ram im pretty happy with the result, the salesman said i would get an extra 100km on the highway. I think its pretty close to be honest. Now for the intake its self im happy with mine but i know a lot of people with Airaid and Injen ones that they like a lot more apparently the filters are better i don't kno though for sure. Would you want to go for a chrome intake or plastic? K&N says the plastic will not absorb as much heat therefore be more effective. But hey, the differenece is minimul so you might as well go for the chrom if you want. Hope that helps.

honestly i dont really care if its chrome or plastic. it would be nice if its paintable as i have a paint theme for the truck in my head and would be nice to be able to paint it the color i want but not that big of a deal. ive use k/n in alot of cars and no doubt are a good product i just wanted to make sure i had a few good ones to chose from. i bought some things in the past fro other vehicles that turn out to not be worth the money and thats why im asking now before i buy. again thanx for the input on this subject guys!!

so far i really like the look of the volant set up.

Actually metal will absorb heat from the engine compartment, which pretty much kills the theory of "CAI". You also want one that gets it air from outside the engine compartment.
