I guess I am somewhere in the middle I like very little to no chrome I prefereed everything on my truck to match. Huge lifts arent usefull in my opinion even in off roading you can only get so much clearence anyway. so a decent lift is functional to me. brush guards and the like make sense for an offroad truck or a truck in ND at all for all the dear. Fender flares are pok as long as not to wide. when off roading on tight trails those things tend to get in the way. I perfer rocksliders over mud flaps for body protection.

So I guess im saying to me there are three categories

Functional
Perceived Functional
Pointless

Here is how they break down

Functional - "mods" if you will that actually serve a purpose for the truck such as the examples listed above. this depend on geography and use use of truck

Perceived Functional - these are the "mods" that the owner thinks are functional and explain to everyone how they are functional but they are so extreme they way past the functional part. I.E Huge Body lifts and Suspension lifts when the ground clearence is not effected at all or very little. Not saying these mods are bad if you like the way it looks go for it. they just fall in this category for me.

Pointless - To me there are very few "mods" that fall into this category for me. These are the mods that serve no Funtional nor Perceived Function purpose other than "HEY LOOK WHAT I CAN DO" these are mostly "show" trucks to me (yes they have a purpose in show circuits dont crucify me i just dont care for "show" trucks personally" these would be such this as.... dvd players in your mud flaps or under the hood or anywhere that it is not veiw able while inside cockpit of the vehicle. Neon lights darn near anywhere on the vehicle. I think you guys know what I am talking about.

so those are my categories that I think best describe where they fall.

I am a "keep it simple" kinda guy. I am cool w/ chrome on METAL only. (I cant do chrome vent visors, door handle covers etc...you can....I can't)
I dont do badges (thats on anything, my Grand National has no badges, and its a heck of a lot cooler and more collectable than my truck), I dont like pin stripes, I dont like crazy headlights and tail lights, OEM and clean is best.
I like my trucks low, smooth, and sleek. I dont think its West Coast style, Cali style, or whatever....its just "simple/less is more".

i'm from the east coast and i like the cleaned up look;no badges, door and tailgate handles color matched to the body, chrome in moderation;just enough to tie everything together.i agree that it's all a matter of personal preference no matter where you live.

I like reading this convo. For me honestly for the most part I like the stock badges. I love the big Ram heads and the Ram logo on the doors. (I might do away w/ the 1500 though) and yes my back window has to let everyone know that if you cant dodge it ram it, kurt busch rules and the gators are kings of the sec. I proudly display my engine co.3 plate on the front , besides that I dont really like any body mods that arent functional. I just see them as something else to break of scratch off-road. I guess if I was building a street rod like alotta guys no here I could see doing some cool body mods but I was always more attracted to the look and hobby of off-roading than going fast.
