Default ALTERNATOR & BAT Question

So i've seen a couple other people with threads sort of like this but I want to know.. What is the largest size alternator I can get for my vehicle? The one from the diesel ? And is there such thing as too much power? Like Dual Battery's and a huge Alt and 12v power block .. is there too much? would it fry wires or what not..

There's a 160amp for the alternator off a Durango. You can run dual batteries too,

No, you can't fry the wiring by adding a larger alternator. Talk to some local rebuilders and see how much amperage the can get out of one.

Mine and Werms Off Road trucks come from the factory with 136 amp alternators . I wasn't aware of the 160 amp on the Durangos .

No worries over the wiring. It's not what you put out, it's what your equipment will draw in amperage that kills undersized wire, fuses and relays.

The 160 amp alternator from the Durango would be a good upgrade, as will dual batteries.

Why do you think you need all the additional power? Gonna build a killer audio system? Add a bunch of blinking lights? What's goin' on?
