Default hard tonneau cover removal

Okay, I went to take off my tonneau "real quick" and there aint nothing "quick" about it, unless I'm missing something.
It looks like I have to completely remove the clamps from both the cover and the rails.

So my questions are:
1. Am I not understanding correctly or do I have to completely remove the entire clamp? And...
2. Are there better/easier clamp designs that can be purchased?

Are you taking it off permanently? If not, you should have some pins at the front of the cover you can pull and then just pop the support arms off their mounts.

Thats one of the reasons why I went with a soft tonneau . You can just roll it up and secure it to the front of the bed .

If it's like mine you have to remove all the clamps (mine has three on each side). It's a two man job to lift it off and it is recommended to place it onto saw horses and leave it in the horizontal position. They are not designed for easy removal however it was the look I was after.

Well here's hoping RootBeer is correct. I like having the cover but I do find that I need to remove it to haul big stuff. RootBeer, where would I look for the pins? It's dark out now so it will have to wait for the morning.

All of the hard tops I've seen the pins were at the front and act as the hinges. I could be wrong about yours. Please let me know what you find in the day light.

Alas, no pins. Just looks like a heavy duty piano hinge at the front, the screws of which I can't get to (I went out with a flashlight, lol). Looks like I'll have to either take it off permanently or get myself a different kind of cover. Or maybe I could change out that piano hinge for the removable pin type.
Thanks guys.

And it's appreciated RotBeer. I'll have a look at home depot for hinge possibilities. If nothing else, I could get a couple of galvanized hinges and replace the pins with longer steel rods, drill a couple holes for cotter pins, yadda yadda. It's worth a try. I really like having a cover.

Yup, I debated for awhile on which cover to get. Ended up with the hard cover knowing I would have issues if I needed to remove it. I just love the look, anyway good luck and let us know how you make out.
