Default need radio install help

hi all, new to the forum & just bought my ram
01 1500 SLT laramie 5.2 (yeah i know, choices were limited)
i belive it has the infinity system (it has the tweeters in the a pillars?)
i already searched & didnt find an answer
i hooked up the ground, constant 12v & acc & the deck powered on & seemed ok, i did not have any speakers hooked up at this point
shut it all off & connected the right & left front speakers, went to test & now the deck wont power on at
i checked all the fuses, even the one in the back of the deck, all are ok
i checked the pink wire & its not receiving constant 12v (now?) to my understanding it should be
the acc is powering on when the key is on, but the deck still wont power up
i disconnected the 2 speaker wires, cause i know some systems have factory amps that can be a problem (and i read a post or 2 about that)

so my problem/question is
1 is the pink wire supposed to be constant 12v?
if it is where else should i look for a fuse, relay or whatever the problem is
(like i said when i first hooked this up, it was just the 2 power & gnd & it powered up fine)
am i missing something?
thanxs
Wolffy

Welcome to forumz i dont know the answer to this the best i can do is say the obvious on checking all wires to make sure they are conneted correctly and no breaks in the wire and also check the fuse on the back of the deck if you have one or under the dash.

Hope this is of help to you and someone will be along soon to give you the answer your looking for

Welcome to the Z. Sorry, I don't have a clue on stereo systems, but we do have some experts here. I'm sure they'll drop by with some advice. Here's a link to a post just for audio issues.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

I just installed a very nice one in my 97, but I bought the wiring harness and it makes a world of difference. It took me about 15 minutes for stereo and three hours to replace all the speakers, lol.

I would consider pulling the deck out and bench test it. I am sure the pink wire is supposed to be constant power on acc but there should also be an amp trigger wire. This wire sends a signal to the amp to power on. you may have these wired might be mixed up.
I could check wiring info. did you say this is a 2001 truck?

i bet some how the radio got shorted..why did you just put the power and ground on to test it? Normally people with a wiring harness just wire everything then plug an play

i bought a harness to start with
i already tested the deck, it works
there is NO power to the pink wire, from what i can tell should be constant 12v

UPDATE
I just ran another 12v wire, the deck is now installed and powering up fine, but i dont have ANY sound at all, with the factory or aftermarket deck
yes i have the amp wire hooked up
i havent tore a door apart to check the speaker, but as i have 2 amps & 2 speakers & 2 subs to install, im just going to run all new wire
thanxs for all the help
