Default Chrysler fan, explain the hate..

First let me say I'm a AUTOMOBILE fan. I'm partial to American makes but I love all cars and trucks. I love 80's Turbo Dodges, Mustangs, Ferraris, etc, etc, etc, etc. Now that that's out of the way....

I sell on a lot of Ford forums..this is actually my first Chrysler forum. I've noticed quite a bit of hate towards ford and gm. But why hate other automakers? What does Chrysler do better that ford doesn't do? I guess I'm looking for a discussion and maybe some debate too...A majority of chrysler vehicles use old technology and fall last to other auto makers in road tests. So..I'm curious to hear this...

I'm generally a Chevy fan but I've never liked Fords, especially from a technicians POV. Have I owned one? Yes, so I'm speaking with some first person experience as well. In the last week, I've worked on an '08 Ford truck and an '08 Chevy and I can tell you I'd take the Chevy over the Ford in a minute. The Ford interior is generic, uninspired and uncomfortable compared to the Chevy.

Oh, it's just really a bit of jawin' influenced by the fact that some own a Dodge right now.

I've owned all of the Big Three's pickup offering. What I've found is that some years one is better than the others, some years another maker has a better idea and so on.

So don't take it to be total hatin'...it's more bragging than anything.

That's what I figured, but I'm still curious as to why someone way HATE a taurus but LOVE a 300. Hell, if it came down to an SHO v. 300C..it'd be tough for a BUNCH of different reasons. The rams are the best looking trucks out there though..and the cummins diesel can't be beat..so with all that aside....

Well, it might be because someone has had the same experiences with Ford products as I did.

I've owned 4 Fords...three blew up on me and one tried to kill me.

I think Michael said it very well, in most cases, it's a friendly rivalry, although, at times, it can disintegrate into a small war, lol. I used to be a big Chevy fan, had an '87 for a while, also a '93 SHO (loved that car!!!). Would I buy a Ford truck? No, mostly for the reasons Randy mentioned, especially now, don't like what they've done with the look of them, even though I drove a couple Rangers over the years and have nothing bad to say about them. Guess when I got my '81 Ram, I was sold on Dodge. It just felt bigger, more solid and sure of itself on the road. My Jeep speaks for itself, lol, that's a passion in itself since there's only one Jeep, but all in all, personal preference sometimes does come with a bit of personal bias.

Before I purchased my Ram I looked at Chevy and Ford . I have been a mechanic for almost 30 years and been a Mopar lover for all of them . I have worked for GM and believe me the grief I have received from my former co-workers there . All 3 manufacturers have their good points and their bad . I feel in love with the Dodge because of the color and body style . At the time of my purchase Ford wasn't willing to negotiate anything at the table and GM didn't have what I was looking for .

Personally, I don't think Ford trucks have been worth a tinkers damn since they phased out the 7.3 diesel. Up till then, I thought the F-250/350/450/550 series were pretty good trucks. I've never been a fan of the F-150 although the Ranger seems to be a decent truck from what I've seen.

Chevy's body styling in the middle part of the decade was pretty bad but they finally came back around with a good looking truck and they finally have the Duramax working pretty well and the Allison transmission is nearly bulletproof. As for the Colorado, that's one UGLY mofo...
