Default Interior LED Dome / Map Lights

I dont see many threads about this type of mod maybe because they are rather simple to do but I figured I would share some info on interior LEDs for Dome and Map Lights.

It seems now that everyone and their brother offers these lights. You can buy replacement bulbs that are LED Fixtures or you can get LED panels.

For my 2010 Ram... I bought several different options... including some replacement bulb type of LED fixtures. I bought some lights from BrightLED's website and Plasmaglow Panels also got some from Ebay.

If you are going for increased brightness, which I think is the reason you would even consider the LED change... Then by all means go with PLASMAGLOW's LED Dome Panels. They are by far the brightest out of them all that I tried. Even with my tinted windows... I can easily see inside my vehicle at night as I approach it. They work really well and are very easy to install. If you must have photos... i will post some but I think most of you seen enough of the comparison photos on ebay.

Stay away from all those that say super-bright with 360 degree of LEDs. First off... they are not that bright... secondly You dont need LED emitting 360 degrees. All you need is LEDs emitting through the plastic covers.

Tim

UPDATE: One of the sets I had I thought was GoRecon... but it was not from them. I think someone swapped out lights and sold them as an open package deal for 1/2 the price. Go Recon seems to be pretty bright too. And others have posted some other items that they found to be bright too. Sorry for the messed up post.

I just upgraded my interior lights with the Putco kit, and it's awesome. It looks amazing at night. There's a few pics in this thread:

Mine did not seem nearly as bright as yours? Hmmm? Your pictures look brighter then mine... a lot more white. I bought mine months ago... wonder if i got a bad batch or a first run batch and were upgraded???

yours even look brighter then my Plasmaglow ones. My plasma glow look like 6000 or 8000K. Hmmm? I will take some pics tonight. Maybe they just look bright in photos with no lights. Your photos seem to be in a very dark area. We have street lights etc. So I may have to find a place to go to take some shots to compare properly. Maybe i should order a new Recon kit and return these.

I got mine off of eBay and LOVE them!

They don't have any blue in them at all. They are straight white. The pics that I posted a long time ago of my interior setup is weak compared to these.

Damn... Why are mine not that bright???

I bought my recon set or what I thought was a recon set for like $30 or so on ebay or amazon I think it was. it was when I was so caught up in buying stuff left and right... Which BTW I will not do again because I got doubles on some things. LOL. Anyway The guy said he bought them but it was the wrong one for his truck and looking to get rid of them for 1/2 price packaging not included... also did not come with instructions. I bet they were not GoRecons!!!

Hmmmm?

http://www.gorecon.com/products.php?...01WH&x=20&y=52

That is the bulbs I got!!! is that what you got Deputy? Mine dont kick off anywhere near the light you are showing in the pictures... and this is why I said stay away from these types of bulbs.

I got so many different things from so many people.... I was all gun-ho over getting a ram and being able to do stuff to it. I bought so many things even before having my truck. LOL.

Well at least its not a costly lesson learned.

But Im scared to order a new set of LEDs from GoRecon...But Deputy... yours looks really bright?

You have an 07 right? In the map lights you have the 194 bulbs right? So the ones you got in your kit are those 360s bulbs: http://www.gorecon.com/product_image..._image-465.jpg

or is it a manel with multiple LEDs?

Sorry for asking all the questions.

Also sorry for saying GoRecon was not bright when I may not even have real goRecon lights.

I edited my post with corrections.

So far plasmaglows are the brightest I have. MS520 shows another type with some promise too. Which one to buy now? LOL

The bulb on this auction is for the back of the cab light right? What do you use for the Maps?
