Angry Buyer Beware

I recently ordered a set of stainless pillar posts covers for my 09 Ram crew cab from a vender on e-bay. Luckly I used Paypal to pay for this Item. This is what happened: On the 18th of June the item was delivered to a different address by UPS (I wasn't home) but the yellow tag was not posted on my door. On the 20th the people where it was left put the pkg. outside my door, POOF gone.
When I started inquiring into where my pkg. was the seller said it had been delivered. When I called UPS they said it had been delivered to another address and were sorry.
The seller/shipper must be the one to file a claim w/UPS. This is where it gets good. He, Douglas Dugstahlk of "Auto Details" says it's my problem. And refuses to do anything to help me.
After several messages back and forth thru e-bay I finally contacted Paypal and have since escalated this to a claim.
Oh, and trying to get e-bay's attention on this was a lesson in futility. They are toally insullated in the way they have their system for logging a claim.
If their are any venders reading this, this was a customer service fiasco of the worst kind. All that had to be done here was for the vender to say he would take care of it thru UPS. Bottom line is, I didn't get what I paid for.

very sorry to hear that! I'd be choked as well since it would take only a little effort to make it right.

That is not good news at all!
First, what gives UPS the right to deliver the package to someone else unless authorized to do so, then to suggest that they can't help you unless the shipper file a claim! That is totally wrong!

As for the seller not even attempting to assist his customer with such a simple request, he needs to re-evaluate his priorities.

I truly hope you are able to get this resolved quickly and without a whole lot of time and money wasted. Keep us informed as to how it all turns out. It is unfortunate that you have to go through this trail, but maybe your experience can help someone else avoid this kind of problem.

That sucks man, sorry to hear about your experience. I'm with Paris, did you try to get the charges reversed on your credit card? Good thing, too, to get the word out on these folks, not only will it save someone else a potential nightmare, but these people never realize how many people quickly find out about their crummy customer service and stop doing business with them. Sure hope you can get this resolved quickly!

Sucks indeed. However, ebay sellers have it rough. I'm NOT DEFENDING THIS GUY AT ALL but I can assure you the buyers have it easy. I send something out (even though it was ordered wrong). I tell the customer I'll gladly refund them when it gets here. They want me to pay return shipping and I refuse. They file a dispute..I'm screwed. The buyers can kill sellers this way since ebay and paypal will always side w/ the buyer. Good to know when I'm on the buying end of it though..I'm waiting for a GPS that I didn't get any shipping notification on.

Do I ever wish. When I list an auction it's got the part #, measurement, etc. If someone buys it, I can only assume they did their research. In the driveline business..it's not always that easy. Paypal doesn't understand what it's like to sell drive shafts for a living I guess..

Sorry if this is hijacking the thread but when I saw the complaint against PayPal I had to chime in.

Like a damn fool I used PayPal for a purchase thinking I'd could basically pay cash for the purchase and still be protected just like I used a credit card. Nope. In my opinionPayPal dispute resolution is pure bullshit and in favor of their larger sellers. Low volumn sellers may not catch a break but I don't see it any way other than the dispute resolution process is rigged against the buyer if a high volumn seller is involved.

I got stiffed by RECON Accessories on a purchase in late April [here's a CLICKY to take you to the thead I first mentioned it on] where they charged me for something they backordered and would not give a refund. Although I said in that thread I would file a claim immediately I waited almost a month while sending several emails to RECON trying to sort it out. They acted like it was going to be taken care of but I soon saw it was just a stall. I then basically stopped being nice about it and sent RECON a demand email to stop the stalling and refund the money. They didn't and I opened a dispute with PayPal. In the dispute process I tried to furnish emails to PayPal that RECON sent me acknowledging they 1) did not ship the item and 2) that they indeed owed me a refund. I repeatedly asked PayPal for an email address to forward the emails to or to give me a fax number to send copies to. I've yet to get a response with that info. I did however get a reply from PayPal this past Sunday that they were rejecting my claim. Evidently they didn't read my complaint offering supporting documents and just rulled based on seller volumn or by denying the claim before I could provide the documents they wouldn't have to see them in fear they would have to rule against a big seller/customer of theirs. It's not the money (Hell, I used to spend more a day on whisky than the cost of the bulbs I didn't get) it's the principle. And just so you'll believe I'm not making this up see below - here's the pertinent portion of two of the emails PayPay didn't want to see...

Finally, I'm not going to close my PayPal account in protest (although I'd like to) because I do use it to move money to my kids and it came in very handy for the Z to send me the money on the reception goodies, etc. But I guarandamntee you I'll never make a purchase through PayPal again. If as a seller you won't take my credit card [where I have some real protection] then I can't do business with you. Sorry.

And I believe it's fairly obvious what I think about RECON.
