Default new code appears......

now it popped a 4-3 code.... 43**Ignition coil circuit #Open or short in number # coil circuit. Indicates that the ignition coil's peak primary circuit current is not achieved with the maximum dwell time.
does this mean my coil is going away too? or just everything needs freshened up; plugs, wires, cap and rotor? I read this as "peak spark voltage is not acheived during optimum dwell'. right?
How the heck does it KNOW? Running to town tomorrow for the rest of the supplies to finish this.

Sure sounds like a bad coil. As for how it knows, I'm not sure offhand but I'd say it's the same way the newer trucks do the same thing with coil packs.

Default bad coil

I will snag the coil off my 95 for now, it's only a year old or so, and go ahead and 'redo' all that other stuff. hopefully this shotgun fix will 'hit' something!
Later Randy!
