Try running a synthetic blend oil or pure synthetic in your engine. I had the same issue and started out with Castroil synthetic blend and now use amsoil pure synthetic and the noise has disappeared at start up.

Default try synthetic oil

Also running pure synthetic makes my truck run like it was new again.
I have heard it can help gas mileage also but I am not sure about that yet. Also gives you 10,000 miles between oil changes with Amsoil.

Hey Rigor. These motors have a habit of braking exhaust bolts. Have a look around the manifolds and see if yours has a few broken.

I am considering replacing them and am wondering if anyone has this noise and replaced the adjusters. It did not leave the factory with this problem so something has worn. Its a 2002 with 105000 miles on it.
Myself I get agravated with that tapping noise, I tried marvel, fresh oil change. My engine only has 80,000 miles. It sees to me it must be a low oil flow to one of the lifter rods or defect in oil port molding process casting of the engine. I'd really would also like a straight answer from a Dodge engineer. I hear too many complaints. I had trucks with 250,000 miles and had solid sounding engines with out a tick, click or smoke.
HMMMMM? Let me know if you get the correct fix? Thanks, I'm in the same boat! Have a good week end!

I will look at my manifold bolts tomorrow, if this is what is causing a lifter sound, I will be very surprised and thankfull for your advise if this is the case!
Have a good one!

Mine has the same tapping issue on startup but after warming up it is fine. The only issue I have had with it is I have cracked four spark plugs in the last year always the same cyclinders 1 or 5.
