Default Order predator to shut off mds due to exhaust drone

So I put on my mufflex 18 the other day, sounds great on accell and so quiet inside EXCEPT for when MDS kicks in, sounds like crap. IMO if anyone says they cant hear it they are full of crap lol. The same thing on my Silverado. Any v8 that kicks down to a v4 sounds the exact same way. So I ordered my diablo predaot today and as soon as it comes in the MDS is going BYE BYE!.

Just FYI you will more than likely get better mileage running in v8 mode alone. On my Silverado I gained 2 mpg by shutting DOD off(displacement on demand)

Other than that I love the mufflex 18.

I disabled mine last week and ... EVIC says "15.2mpg" of putting around town mileage. I haven't confirmed it but will at next fill-up. FYI thats about 2.5mpg better than mine with MDS enabled.

And yeah I can hear the MDS on my Magnaflow with tips setup, its not annoying to me. The annoying thing(was) having to push through the stupid MDS every time you needed to accelerate slightly, or downshift, or pass, or or or... I tried running in tow mode all the time and it *really* affects mileage, like 10mpg in town affected. Oh well, bye bye MDS. I will miss you(not).

Hpc3 i agree with you. I hate having to stomp the pedal to break it free from mds mode.

I have a new acronym for this.....MDHS (Makes Da Hemi Suck).
I have my first MDS Hemi. Predator is on order....I am tired of having to (or atl least feeling like I have to) put it in tow/haul every time I start it. I haven't noticed any difference in fuel mileage between modes, but the throttle lag coming out of MDS is similar booting a Windows computer.....it takes FOREVER! The other day when I forgot to hit the 'Hemi' switch, it switch into lawnmower mode just before I got to an intersection where the light yellowed, and I tromped on it clear the intersection. Foot to the floor......nothing.....nothing.....OH CRAP....Off the throttle and on the brake just in time for the Hemi to come to life and burst me into the intersection with the brakes on! Oh yah....I felt soooo cool! Nose down, nose up, nose down......Red light.

For so many, the MDS is fabulous.....for many of us........if we wanted a 4 banger, I'm sure we wouldn't be members on this forum.

Default LOL with Brad...

I can't confirm the mileage yet but just seeing the EVIC a few points higher(and the truck driving like a "normal" V8 now) makes me feel much better heh.

Good to hear The MDS really does help if you're doing long distance drives, I've been up to 20mpg on long treks, but I also spent the money to get a MDS friendly exhaust. The DSP will make ya happy in more ways than just ditching the MDS too

I didnt get much drone from MDS when i did my exhaust but disabled it anyway & saw better MPG. Before taking MDS off didnt have to stomp on it to accelerate passed anything,it just got up & got going.
