Just a little info.. The "wait to start" light is actually the grid heaters working. The newer generation cummins does not use glow plugs. The grid heaters function similar to a glow plug, but they are not the same. If the wait to start light does not illuminate, it's fine to start. If it does illuminate, wait till it turns off before starting.

If it's real cold out, after the light goes out turn key off and do it again. If you notice your lights dimming, and volt meter going down it's the grid heater coming on. Mine will do it for 5 or 10 minutes after I start it.

I guess they don't like cold fuel.
