Default Tow/Haul Mode

Tow/Haul Mode
Can someone help me? I read the manual on how to operate the tow/haul mode but I canít seem to get it to work. I put the truck in drive, press the tow/haul button, get the gear indicator (5), but I canít change the gear when I press up or down?
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick to this or am I just an idiot?
Thanks,
Pete

The last time I used the tow/haul mode, I just pressed the button, it lit up "tow/haul" on the lower right side of the instrument cluster and had a 5 next to the cruise control display while on the highway. Also the -/+ was lit. HTH

That's what mine does too but I can't get the +/- to work to select a lower maximum gear?

Not sure if you can manually select to a lower gear while in tow/haul mode. Never had the need to. Maybe someone else can chime in.

i understand it removes the lock-up in the trans.... and takes the shifting over on its own...

What's the +/- on the shifter for?

I have never tried manual shifting in tow/haul, perhaps its disabled by design.

The Owner's manual says that you can limit the top gear with it, so if you choose 3 it won't shift past 3. At least that's how I interpreted it. Is this another function that isn't what it seems like such as the u-connect buttons on the radio?

The only reason I'm asking is because I assumed this was similar to the Toyota Tundra I test drove before the Ram. You were able to select and stay in any gear.

My Chev Silverado crew cab diesel with the Allison trans had a +/- switch on the shifter handle that I could use, in tow/haul mode, to select a gear up and down, much like the AutoStick function MOPAR puts on some vehicles.

However, I have not checked how the transmission in the new MOPAR trucks is arranged or why they have a +/- indicator in the display.

Maybe this is an excuse for me to go to the local Dodge Garage and check out a new truck.

I'm reading it different, and there 2 different systems, the +/- on the slector has nothing to do with tow/haul, page 309 in the owners manual talks about it.
