Default ETC light in the mornings

2010 RAM 2500 HEMI, 10,000 miles.

So, the ETC light (electronic throttle control) comes on in the morning along with the MIL. During this time, the truck runs as usual, no difference in performance seen. In the evening while driving home from work, the light is already off and everything is fine, no ETC or MIL. This has been happening often this past week.

This morning the ETC came on and after driving about 40 miles, I finally noticed that my temperature gauge was not working. The temp needle and the EVIC digital readout would not register any temp. After coming to the next stop sign, I turned off the motor and then turned it back on. ETC light still on and temp gauge reading fine.

I am currently on a business trip, and have no way of dropping the truck off at the dealership. I am in the middle of no-where gulf coast area in between swamps. I drove by a really big alligator chilling on the side of the road. Thoughts of my truck breaking down just weren't good. Maybe in a week or so I can get back to civilization and find a dealership

It sounds like, and this is just my opinion, that the PCM needs a flash to correct a glitch. Or, it may be that your temp sensor is going bad and it creates a momentary fault.

Hope you and the alligators don't get too friendly before you get home!!!

That would sound great to me, a flash would be a quick fix. I like quick and easy. Thanks MADDOG.

Unfortunately, there is no flash for this particular problem. The dealer is going to have to check out the ETC system.

That's disappointing, oh well, I'll try and schedule an appointment asap.
