Question 2010 1500 5.7L Single to Dual Exhaust plus Intake???

Hi.

I have a 2010 1500 Q-Cab 4X4 SLT with single outlet. Want to find a system that, without much fuss, will give me a dual on the back. Ive seen most with pipes out the back...but i prefer a system that will give me an opposite outlet on the driver side, behind the read wheel, like the one on the pass. side. Would prefer to use as much of the exisiting system as i can.

Does anyone know if such a system exists?? May have to get a shop to fab one for me.

If that becomes too much trouble can anyone also tell me a good muffler to install to make better sound from the single pipe. Not too loud but a nice sound from the HEMI.

Also can someone tell me a good intake for the Hemi? I know K & N makes one but from the photo ive seen there seems to be a lot of clamps and hoses with the kit. Would prefer a straight bolt on if possible.

How about a single in, dual outlet muffler? They work pretty good and you won't lose any low end torque. That will use all of your existing system back to the muffler. Then new tailpipes would be added (bent at your local muffler shop) for that dual look in the back.

I would recommend a Magnaflow muffler. Great sound, good warranty, decent price. Gibson would be another good choice.

I prefer the closed box style CAI's, such as the Volant or AFE units. They hook up to the stock cold air inlet on the inner fender for a true cold air feed.

Any system will have clamps and rubber elbows. They are needed because the motor moves and will crack or bend a solid system fastened at one end and at the engine end.

I also like the idea of not running pipes straight out the back but instead having a driver's side exhaust pipe bent to look like the stock one on the pass side. I see posts for the use of a single in/dual out muffler (Dynomax?), but also wonder if any folks have had their shop weld in a SECOND cat-back pipe alongside the stock pipe - from the front where the stock Y-Pipe is and run that second pipe back to a dual in/dual out muffler and go from there? Wouldn't such a second pipe would be after all 02 sensors, etc, and provide even better flow than keeping the Y-Pipe...? Maybe even locate another stock resonator like the one on the right just before the exhaust tip.

I had another idea over the weekend. Why not see if any of you folks out there pulling your factory systems off would be willing to "part" with your stock 1 in/ 2 out dual exhaust muffler? Getting that plus the associated mandrel-bent factory pipes would allow my local muffler shop to adapt it onto my truck without too much fuss. I would want also the stock single pipe out to right side with its small resonator muffler. I would have it cut up enough by the shop to invert it and use it on the left side to mirror image the existing stock right side. The result would be a nice upgrade over stock but still rather quiet compared to aftermarket. I actually like the stock sound with the single 3" main pipe, but I want dual outlets and perhaps a bit less restriction with not much more noise. The motor makes very nice sounds winding up even through that stock system! I have other cars that make plenty of loud power so the truck can stay a bit on the quieter side and I will be OK with it.

Not quite - I need 25 posts or more to send a PM...!

So, by way of resorting to a reply to the post, I am interested. Is this the SIDO muffler with two pipes out the rear nestled in the stock bumper recesses? If so, this would give me the factory pipes over the axle along with the SIDO muffler. Do your pipes also have a small resonator muffler just before the tips? That's what my single system has at the right rear... A few photos would help for us to figure the best way to cut it for ease of shipping. Of course, I am glad to pay those costs! Thanks - DJC

The 2010 Hemi has a true CAI already. Its only drawback is the restrictive filter and the ribbed tube between the box and the TB.

K&N is not a true CAI because its source of air is from the hot engine compartment.

If you MUST spend your money on a CAI, do as Maddog says and get one that enclosed and gets it air from outside the engine compartment.

Yes its the stock exhaust that exits in the bumper cutouts.It has the resonators.I will take pics and post them.
