Default new muffler

Just ordered a Magnaflow PN#12589 looking forward to the new sound. My concearn is the resonator and if I leave the thing in there will it kill the sound of the new muffler?

i just had my magnaflow put on last friday. my sound level only went up a bit, but where the difference came from was the tone of the exhaust. sounds way more deep/ more like a v8 should lol. I left my resonator in for the time being too. You could always chop it out later too if you wanted it a bit louder. i would leave it in to start though.

Default exhaust

I had a flowmaster 50 installed last week. We left the resonator on and I drove around the block a few times and came back and had them cut it out, replaced with a straight pipe. It was too quiet with it left in. The truck still has some back pressure so you're not constantly on the brakes. It sounds good--its a little odd sounding when the MDS kicks in but I'm getting adjusted to it. good luck

What magnaflow is that part number? I just installed the 18 on my truck and the sound accelerating is awesome but it is literally quiet as stock while cruising, worked out perfect for me! My diablo predator will be here thursday so I can disable the MDS. Sounds like a boat when it kicks into v4.

I personally would not remove the resonators, not big enough of a difference to cut them out S/F

How easy was the install? Was it just a straight swap out?

You will notice the tone change as you get some miles on that new muffler.

My change out was pretty easy since I went from the stock single in/single out to a single in/dual out. We just did the muffler and brand new pipes with tips to the back end.

I don't have MDS so no resonators at the end of the pipes. If I did have MDS, I would have run it without them and installed the Predator to cut off MDS. As it is, no MDS but I still have the Predator installed as it really makes a difference in how the truck performs.
