Default New 18" Magnaflow with Airaid CAI - 2010 1500 sport

I was planning on getting the 24" but the salesman talked me out of it and said there wouldn't be a sound difference from stock. Not sure how true that is. They 18" is definitely way louder though. I posted a clip here that shows the difference from stock. I live on a pretty quiet street at the top of a hill, my wife could hear me from the end of the block... she figures it is way too loud. I think it sounds great but might be too loud for me in the long run. At least it isnt too expensive to swap out later.

Anyone else on the fence between 18"-24" and what did you do?

OK, I'm going to plead ignorance here. On my truck (2010 Sport), the muffler has a single inlet and dual outlet, with all three joints clamped onto the pipes. I didn't measure the stock muffler, but I would think that you'd have to replace it with the same size if you didn't want to replace any of the pipes.

Am I missing something?

BTW, your exhaust sounds great. I'd seriously consider doing that now. Which part # did you use?

From my understanding the mufflex kits are direct bolt on replacements. The extender pipes are part of what you get in the kit. I'm thinking of the DOD14M when i'm ready to replace my stock muffler.

They just added a little extra pipe to the intake to make up the difference. $120cdn to install, $102 for the muffler. Part #12288

It's not actually that loud in regular driving, just really seems to be at around 1900rpms going slow up our street... solution is to gun it right at the beginning then coast up towards my house. Don't talk to the people at the end of the street anyway :P

Huh....So the Mufflex is a Magnaflow muffler with an installation kit? That's the way to go then, as I don't want anyone else hacking on the truck.
