I can degree a camshaft, but the EVIC stumped me. That's good.

I have another son on the way - due in December. I think some of my brain cells are just permanently reserved for that function right now. That's probably it.

Apparently, I've only ever checked that thing when I'm running down the road. Yes, the padlock goes away when it's in Park and you can get into the programmable settings.

I think I'll go outside now and beat myself repeatedly on the head with some sort of blunt instrument.

+1 for admitting this!

Totally understood. I have a $68 million project that's messed up and going South on me at a high rate of speed. I think what brain cells I have left (probably only a few) are dying off rapidly.

I have one of the keys you need. I will be willing to sell it at half of what I paid for it. Please send your bank account number and SS# to my off shore agent and we'll get right back to you.

That has to be the funniest response I have seen on this website in a long time. I wish everone was as honest about their mistakes. We could all learn from you.

Don't feel bad, it's not like the owners manual is much help.

Is it just me or does the operation manual leave a little too much up to the imagination ?

All the info is there, but after writing the manual, they dropped it in front of a fan and reassembled it in a completely random order. The part about this happens to be on page 232. My thoughts....page 3 would be a better spot!

BTW - My manual is full of Post-it note tabs for quick reference to things that I accidentally came across while looking for something else. I find more with the tabs then with the index.

When I first got my truck I changed some settings on the EVIC. A week later I was going to work at a red light and tried chaging them and it was locked. Then I got home and started to mess with it again and figured out it needed to be in park. I'm sure you not the only one.

Not, it's not just you. I was quite surprised to see how much is actually left out of the manual. The DVD is useless as well. Over the years, manuals in general are just less useful. You get the impression that they make the manuals intentionally vague because they think customers, in general, are amoebas and can't turn a freakin' wrench.

Like, I'm still trying to determine why my Ram only has 4WD LOCK and 4WD LOW, while it appears that others have 4HI, 4 LOW, etc on the selector. They show both variants in the manual. Was one optional? Do I have the cheapo version? What the frig?

That's good - I hijacked my own thread.
