Default Why dodge over ford?

Hi there, been looking around the forum for awhile, decided to finally register. I have been looking into getting a brand new truck for a few months now and i am really having a hard time making a decision between the 2010 f150 and the 2010 dodge ram 1500.

Yes i know this is a dodge forum, but i am also on a ford forum getting the same question answered. All i ask is for some personal reasons for those that did make the decision between dodge and ford. The whole obama bailout is not something that will factor my decision, i would like legitimate reasons concerning the actual current model trucks themselves please. Right now it is between the 2010 f150 supercrew xlt and the 2010 ram 1500 sport crew cab.

Each truck offers things i like about each one, the dodge i love the interior, the more powerful engine. The ford i like the features on the outside, like the side box steps, tail get step and longer box. Each has their plus and negatives, what was your deciding factor between the two trucks to ultimately sway your decision to the dodge?

Again this is between the 09-10 ram 1500 and the 09-10 ford f150.

Thanks!

Well first, welcome to the forum, glad to have you! Looks like you're really doing your research, great way to go about making the best decision you can for the money and for how you intend to use your truck, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice from other '09-'10 owners on this, but good luck with your purchase and be sure to keep us posted!

I was just in the same boat as you. I had previously owned an 07 F**d Explo**r and was ready for something different. So I gave the same F**d dealership that I bought the Explo**r from another chance at my business. I went and looked at the new F-1**'s, I was seriously thinking of purchasing one but the salesman was a total d**k. He didn't want to offer me any incentives or anything. Keep in mind I was a returning customer. So I test drove the truck and liked it. We returned back to the dealer and I tried smooth talking again to no prevail. So, we eventually went inside and he tried talking me down from a FX4 to some base model turd. Well, of course I left and headed to a Dodge dealership. (I had been wanting a Ram for quite sometime but though I couldn't afford it.) Needless to say, I drove out the same day with a 2010 SLT 1500 Big Horn w/ Hemi. After the incentives and everything I made out pretty good. The only thing I regret is that I didn't get one sooner.

The dodge i would get the hemi and the ford i would get the 5.4. Speed isnt a big issue for me, when test driving both the crew cab models for dodge and ford, the hemi power wasnt nearly as noticeable when compared to the smaller models. Not sure why that was, gearing i guess.

I upgraded from an '03 F150 King Ranch a year ago to an '09 Ram 1500 Sport, and I am reminded why I switched each & every time I get into my Ram. I love it, and it was the best purchase I have ever made. I love the power, the style, the fit & finish, the comfort, the quiet ride, the smart features........ EVERYTHING!
I had previously owned several Ford vehicles before my F-150, and was a regular customer at the Ford service centre. Then I went about 5yrs without a Ford, and when I bought my king Ranch, suddenly I was frequenting the service shop again! I decided to get away from Ford when the service lady still remembered my name after that 5 year hiatus!

I have several friends who have either a F-150 or a Dodge Ram. I got to drive both of them.

Work wise I will use my truck. However I will not use the truck hard enough to make the differences in town/payload...etc a factor. If you are getting the truck for a work truck then it might be different for you.

Ride wise the Dodge Ram hands down beats all the other trucks in ride quality. Its not even funny how much better it is. In the F-150 i found out that unloaded the ride wasnt too great, but got better once you put a payload on. As i am not using the truck for work all the time that was a factor for me.

The looks, the Ram looks better.

Lastely Dodge has stepped up their quality. The quality of their trucks and parts and reliability has greatly increased and is on par with the other companies.
