Default Front axle seal change

I have been having a drip from the front axle, and assuming that it is the result of changing the front diff fluid and the gasket material just not setting up good. So I have already pulled the cover off and did it again....now the leak is back. Last night I was ready to pull the cover again, but I found out that the leak is actually coming from the driver's side axle seal. Any tips on changing it out. What is the best way to pull the axle? Do I have to remove the spindle from the upper control arm to get the axle out?

Having the same issue on my truck, mechanic says I have to take everything apart to get the axle out. Any driveway mechanics do this for some insight?
