Default Random Misfire and Cyl 8 Misfire

Dodge has had my 2009 5.7 Hemi for two weeks. They have no clue as to why it keeps throwing fault codes for random misfire and misfire on cyl # 8. They have checked all plugs, coils, injectors, valves, ect. They refuse to test the ECM until it the last resort. Anybody had this experience .... any proven solutions to suggest? Help! Riding the motorcycle is not as fun when you have to do it every day at 4 am for two weeks.

A broken valve spring was the first thing that came to mind for me as well. There's no way for them to really "test" the PCM except to replace it with a known good part and it sounds to me like they're at that point now. Two weeks to diagnose this particular problem is unacceptable. Call Chrysler customer service.

Default Cam Shim?

Ok .... So they told me they ordered a "Cam Shim" to try out. This leads me to think that the engine is crud and wast made to spec. I dont want a custom engineered engine.

Default Keep the imput coming I need Help!

I know that cam and valve shims are usually used when either the cam lobe, the valve or the lifter is wearing out and clearences are no bueno any more. I hate this. Serious question... how is dodge on vehicle replacement? By the way this vehicle has appx. 17k miles!

I don't like "jury rigged" fixes either and this sounds like one to me. Get them to put in writing they are starting the warranty clock over on the motor that way you have protection.

Just my humble opinion.

That would be my thought as well, since I know if it were me, I would not be satisfied with a "jury rigged" engine, either.
