but a 100% sealed box definitely has some appeal.
Volant has also announced an optional Ram Air lower tube to be released November.

That sounds like a winning combo to me.
You will love it, especially with that add on, I love the shit out of mine!

Just curious as to why none of you have tried to manufacture working hood scoops into your cia.

It's just a lot of work. My friend has an RT and we talked about trying to fiberglass something to fit his hood scoops but it would take a long time, and likely cost a few hundred bucks by the time we bought everything needed. The only way I know to do it would be using the "lost mold" technique where you make a mold out of foam, then fiberglass it, then use acetone or similar to dissolve the foam. It would probably take weeks for me to do something like this working a few hours each day. I think most people are waiting/hoping someone comes out and markets one. I believe they have one for the challenger....likely will have one for the ram at some point as well.

The optional RAM Air, is that the below the fender one I've seen? I can't wait, I got mine ready for delivery on Wednesday, putting her in on Friday with a new Y pipe and Magnaflow 18. I think I need to make a proper mod's thread, just don't let the wife see it

Whole lotta threads on here to find the answer I am looking for, so here goes...any truth to the airaid CAI with the throttle body spacer? $150 paper weight is not what i am looking for! Mixed reviews out there...

airaid makes nice products. TB spacers do nothing. I would recommend a closed box CAI.

I got home afterwork yesterday to find my new Volant waiting for me (got my tracking notice at noon actually)
....was going to wait until the weekend to install so I could fab up a lower pipe ram-air feed with the help of Home Depot's plumbing department.
While eating my supper and browsing over my instructions, I decided it would be about a 5-10 minute job to swap it with my Airaid...Yup!

Done deal and no fitment issues, although it is a tight squeeze.
I just re-used the Airaid breather hose and dont use my stock engine cover ( because its just a huge Heat Trap) so that really helps.

I know, pics...or it didn't happen lol!

a little foam rubber pipe insulation to seal to the fender opening...

before pic:

Track testing to follow next week... going to compare a stock box with K&N drop-in, to Airaid and the Volant on two different 4G Hemi Rams.
Time slips will prove which is better (if any), I'm guessing it will be close.

The Volant is the Best looking CAI by a long shot, and sealed so I can wash my engine bay at the car wash without having to worry about the filter element getting wet.

In November the lower optional lower scoop is scheduled for release...

(silverado version)

I've already opened up my lower bumper for a Ram air to use with a "Home Depot Special"until it arrives

Hey B-R-H, I'm looking forward to those time slips. I think I am going to order a Volant as soon as I can so this will help make up my mind

Looking good BRH !!! Can't wait to see the results. I'm pretty sure there will be a large amount of subscribers waiting on your test results. Finally we can get some sort of an answer as to how each will perform.
