Default Sentry key theft deterrent question.

Hello newbie here,I bought a new Ram 1500 st quad cab 4x4 a couple of weeks ago.I cant get my head around this Sentry key theft deterrent system. The window sticker says its got it so how does it work, as I never got a press button key fob with this truck and all I have read seems to suggest that the truck should have one.I only got two regular keys with the truck and two spares. The truck does have power locks.Any ideas whether I should have a remote key fob.The dvd and the owners manual says to use the key fob to set the Sentry system but doesnt say anything about setting it with ordinary keys. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello All, and great forum!

I have the same exact issue as the OP. The finance manager swore up and down the fobs were extra, but it seems Dodge says they are included. Anyone with experience like this? Thank you.

The ST doesn't come with FOB's because the PDL's aren't installed. However, the keys contain a microchip that allowes the vehicle to start.

I see. Thank you Remerson. Any idea of the cost to have it installed at a dealer? Considering aftermarket at this point, and weighing remote strat and alarm notification versus OEM equipment.

Remerson you seem quite informed. KNow where I can go to get a build sheet? The dealership was quite reluctant to answer questions after a few issues came up.

I can pull build sheets. I can tell you that going with a good aftermarket system will be cheaper and work just as well.
