Default back-up camera

Hi Gang,

I am getting an aftermarket camera installed on my new ram 1500.

I was wondering if others have done the same.

I am getting it wired into my existing nav system and apparently the cost goes up due to module etc required for nav install.

Also it appears the lens is screwed into my license plate cover.

Not thrilled with this but not sure if there are any further options.

I basically do not trust dealer on cost charged to me for this camera. Anyone else get one installed and if so could you provide me with some details on cost, lens choice, etc...

Thanks Musky

I just installed mine last weekend. I bought the one that is mounted in the tailgate latch. Cost for the kit was high ~~299 Wiring was simple. Hardest part is removing the panels for the radio and center console. Major bummer is that the radio needs to be enabled by the dealer. They are quoting me about an hour to do that or ~$140. I heard about a device called lockpick so I looked it up and bought one. This enables all features on the radio along with the backup camera for ~$222. Does many other things that I wanted so it was worth is to me.
