Default after rotation, shake??

Hey guys,

any of you encounter a crazy shake after your get your tires rotated..??

my truck was at about 18,000 when i got them rotated and now when i go over 100KM/h my steering wheel SHAKES LIKE CRAZY!!!

i tried to take the truck in today and get them to fix it (Balance the wheels) and they want me to pay $75.00!! should this not be something they pay for under warranty and under their own **** up??

Tire balance is a maintainence item. If your tires are out of balance it's not Chryslers fault. The only warranty claim you might have would be if they found a defective tire or bad wheel. Shop around and get a better price on balancing your tires.

but the issue is.. they replaced these wheels a couple months ago.. so they shouldve been balanced at that point.. no??

Did you not notice a shake before the rotation?

I am assuming they are stock wheels, yes?

Interesting. The only thing I can imagine is wrong, and this is a total guess, is that they did not get them torqued right or something is interfering with the hub-centric fit of the wheels on one or both sides of the front.

That doesn't mean the rear tires couldnt have come out of balance in that time period or you could possibly have a broken belt on one tire.

Just before i went on my cross country trip, last month, i took my Ram into the dealership to get my tires rotated, it was the 2nd time it had been done. With these steel belted radial tires they rotate the wheels front to back, not in the old X pattern like the bias ply tires. I noticed an immediate shake when i hit 50 MPH, i commented on it in another post, i returned it a couple days later & told them that it was not easily drivable, that i had just driven the truck about 200 miles & my arms were tired & i could actually see the hood moving. they took it into the tire shop & tried to fix it, then he test drove it, took it back in & tried again, tested it again, i saw him drive right past me at least 4 times. They gave it back to me saying it was fixed, it wasn't. I then took it to Discount Tire & had them change the rotation back & the shake was gone. I think that the wheels need to be stripped of weights & then start over.
I am the only driver & i have not hit any curbs or anything else, the only contact with the edges of the tires has been the car wash machines so i can't believe it is a bad wheel. I am not in any way a pro tire person, but, i think its the wheel weights, they don't clamp on any more, they look like they are glued on & one or 2 are missing or not glued on in the correct place.
Now that i am back from vacation, i'm going to take the RAM to a real tire store or a automotive ALIGNMENT shop & get them checked by a professional, not the person at the dealership that doesn't have a much work to do & got assigned to work on tires

While i am speaking about tires, has anyone noticed that the tires that came on our Rams make a metallic noise on certain type of concrete roads? almost like a metal lathe cutting lightly into a brake drum or rotor? The noise can drive you up a tree, as soon as the concrete changes to a different surface type, either grooved or a wavy surface pattern, the noise goes away. The noise doesn't happen on asphalt roads. If you look at the tire pattern itself, (keeping in mind air or water flow), 1 side of the vehicle allows for air or water to escape easily & the opposite of the vehicle actually captures the air or water, its a damn poor design to my thinking. I'll be replacing the tires with a good set of tires when they are worn down enough, i will be going with Michelin's like on my last truck, they had a better tread design & i never heard any road noise & they use a harder synthetic rubber for longer life, true they cost more but ...

sorry for the long post Guys & Gals
