Default Turbo?

I am looking at a GT45 V band T4 Turbo. Has anyone had good/bad experiences?

Is this an ok turbo? Recommendations very welcome!

I have a stock 2010 Ram 2500 6.7 cummins and I am looking at a few mods down the road and trying to figure out what I should do in what order....

Tuner
Turbo
Exhaust
EGR Delete

Anything else you can think of?
This will be my daily driver with occasional towing.

Thanks for the help.

What is your burn rate like? Are you running rich? If not, then there's other mods you need to do before you look at new turbos. You definately need to upgrade the injectors with ported ones (optional tip sizes out there from 50hp-150hp) to allow more fuel in and upgrade the fuel pump to put more fuel through the injectors. Unless you're having high EGT problems, then there's no need to upgrade the turbos yet.

As for the turbo, where do you want your power band, and are you planning on twinning or compunding your turbo setup with the stock one? Have a good look at Gillet Diesel or PDR Diesel Performace.

It is bone stock 700 miles on her! No tuner nothing yet. I am trying to get an Idea of what I should do first. I am planning on compounding it with the stock turbo.

A big question is how much do you like your warranty? Cuz the minute you start down this path you can kiss it bye bye.

You've got a great place to start with this build up I'd recommend getting at least 5K on the clock before touching the system to let it As I said before, you should upgrade your fuel delivery before you upgrade your turbo, diesels work well running rich, but not so good lean, you just have to be very careful with your DPF on the 6.7Ls. If you live somewhere that you can delete it, then it's the best way to go as it removes that complication all together. If you can delete it, then look at the H&S performance BlackMAXX for a tuner

Are you looking to use the stock turbo as your high boost or your low boost in your compound system? and would you consider a larger single turbo rather than a compund system? like a 78mm? The garret 78mm can boost up to 60psi on it's own, there's just a bit of lag to get to full spool up.

Well the warrenty I am looking to keep for at least a few years! LOL. I might just have to go with the basics first! Tuner, fuel system, exhaust and then figure it out from there. i will go talk to craig in palmdale! Thank you for your assistance!

Anytime Diesel junkies make the world go 'round. I won't lie, I do more with the 5.9L so if you're looking for 6.7L specific stuff I'm no expert, (I know enough to get into trouble but not enought to get out ) but the basics are the same and I can help on most stuff. When it comes to turbo selection, I'd get in touch with a diesel tuning shop and go through the turbo charts and start looking at where you want your power band. If you want a recommendation on a turbo for compunding with the stocker, then the BorgWarner S474 would be my choice. I've seen a few setups from Industrial Injection with this as part of their compound kit and they claim up to 650hp and you can still keep your exhaust brake... which is always a good thing but rare with bolt-in kits.
