Default Twin T25 Turbos

I recently recieved two t25's for free, from some buddies who upgraded to larger ones a T3-4 and a T4. I was going to sell them, but I'm wondering if they would be large enough to run on my 318. I've been told that they would work and won't work. Also my truck is a 1995 OBDI system, so how would I tune the system for the turbos. I'm also going to run them a 4 pounds of boost.

1. i would never turbo a high milage engine. if yours is high milage it will blow it eventually.
2. they will work i have seen them done but honestly a pro chargers are more efficient and easier to tune and set up.
3. i would sell the turbos and get gears if it was me. ide love a set of 4.10's

I agree. If you have a high mileage engine and you install some turbos, you are gonna have a no MPH engine pretty quickly.

S/C's are a better choice for a V8 that revs lower than a turbo 4 or 6 cylinder. And much easier to tune. In fact a lot of S/C mfgrs will include a base tune for your computer with a kit.

If you want to do forced induction, you need to build that engine for it first. Otherwise, it's gonna go BOOM!

I rebuilt the motor last year before i left for Iraq the motor only has about 12,000 miles on it. It runs stock 9.5:1 compresson, Im going to pull the motor out and add stronger rods and so forth. And if i wanted a supercharger or procharger I would have bought one. Im doing turbo's because nobody around my home town has a turbocharged V8 truck. They all run superchargers or a baby bottle "nitrous".

It'll be a little while before I get a video but when I start I will certainly be uploading pics of the build. As of right now I'm just trying to find information about tuning the motor. Thank you.

well that was kind of a big piece of info. for tunning i am pretty sure you will have to get it reflashed.

What did the turbos come off of ? Make sure you don't have to much compression for them . Are you good at fabrication work ? Doing the install will require quite abit . Keep us updated on the install .

you could run about 4lbs of boost and be plenty safe. But, if you don't want to use them, send them my way...lol

But, with turbos that small (you would have to use both of them), you would have almost no lag, however, you wouldn't gain much top end...low end though...they'd be similar to a supercharger as far as torque curve...which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Those turbos are actually often used on turbo 4 cylinders. A lot of people run a single T60 on v8s, as they are about perfect....so, a t25 vs a t60, you can understand the difference. Two T25s will still be a little less airflow.

But, putting one turbo on each side of the engine would net you pretty good power.

And, you wouldn't want to run too much boost as that can overspin the turbo.

The common thing a lot of people don't understand is, 4psi on a 318ci V8 is a lot more air than 4psi on a 110ci 4 cylinder. Meaning, to make that 4psi, that turbo is going to be spinning at about 15000 RPMs...where as, on a 4 cylinder at 15000RPMs, that turbo would probably be making 15lbs of boost.

So...run them low boost and you'll get a decent increase in power and be safe while doing it for both the engine and the turbo.

Also remember, with a turbo charger, you want absolutley no exhaust restriction behind, or, the least possible amount. Meaning, no cats, and large pipe (3"). The less restrictive the exhaust, the more efficient the turbo.

As I said, though, with these, don't be expecting 400hp at 5000RPM...you probably be more like 300hp at 3000RPM with a similar torque curve.

Also...don't forget a BOV...very important. And, do these have internal wastegates? Or will you have to get an external?

And...don't forget having to plumb the coolant and oil lines (if those turbos require that). Might want to get an oil cooler as well...along with an intercooler to make the boot even more power netting and safe.

I could probably keep adding things...but, those are things to think about for now.
