Default Radio question??

Hey guys I have a 2009 Ram 1500 with the basic RES radio. I am interested in putting the RER Part # P05064739AB radio. Is this a plug and play swap or do I have to splice wires ect.??

nothing to it, there are interchangable backings, just unplug your 3 wires in the back and the main wire, they are all just a pull out, the blue connect is NAVAGATION, gold is Sirius, and white is am/fm
the rer Nav has the exact same !!! it will take u 15 minutes, you will need a torx screwdriver, i forgot size 30 maybe, and a socket.

You need a GPS antenna can get them for 20 bucks on ebay and they work better than the factory.

I think if you can get the 2011 RER it has a garmin antenna built in. Seems I read that somewhere... i will look it up but here is some info:

2011 MYGIG, RER is now obsolete
Garmin is now making the Navigation Radios instead of HB.
Garmin nav, BT music streaming, play music from usb port, voice texting, album art, Sirius Travel link, remote usb port for Ipod, voice control of iPod...

Anyone want to trade for my 2009 REN MyGIG?

i've heard that there are some compatibility issues with putting the new ones in the 09, 10 trucks. i'm hoping its not true.

True....someone from Harmon Becker told me that you cannot just throw a 2011 into an 09/10 it have different speed canbus or several speeds in one radio. Not sure but the said it was a good radio being made my Mitsubishi and all.

So the options for the 2009/10 trucks are to get a nav screen from an 09/10 on eBay or similar and plug and play? I have sirus in my truck right now does that use the same gps antenna or would I need to get another one like Rick said?

I don't think there is an antenna that does both, you will need to connect something to all three "antenna" connections, white for am/fm, yellow for Sirius and blue for GPS
