Default 04 ram 1500 5.7 security light flash no start

Drove it to the store. Shut it off. Ran just fine.
5 min. later tried to start. Wont start and security light
on dash is flashing.

So I tried to reset the dash by holding down
the trip od reset with key on. Looks like it reset and code
Ab-01 came up. Now no flashing security light but still will
not start. Just a loud click. Thanks to AAA I am home.
Could it be something simple? Or more like a trip to the
dealer. I am using the factory chip key. Tried the spare
key no go. Thanks for any help. J.

With the click sound and the AAA was able to get you going, it sounds like a dead battery. Swing by Autozone or Napa or what have you and have them check the batter and entire charging system. Its free.

these Dodge Rams are a bit strange, a jump start may start it & it may make it home, BUT, you need to put them on a battery charger & give them a proper charge, especially on the new models, from what i understand, the Rams alternator won't build up the charge to full capacity. only a battery charger can do it & if it can't , it may be another problem

Default 04 Ram start

I did not try to jump start. I just had AAA flat bed the
truck home. So after your posts I got out the power probe
and guess what? batt. V. is 10.3 kind of dim.... Pulled the batt.
from my old 55 Willys Overland and BAM the Dodge fired right
up! I will charge the Batt. from the Dodge and test the
Alt. I may need to do a quick test on myself.
Thank You so much. J.

I'm betting the battery is shot. Alternator failures aren't common.

Default Good news

Just a bad batt. Simple easy thank you. Ready for this?
I love my truck. It knows its way home. We broke down less
than 100 yards from the Dodge Dealer ship I bought the 1500
from. So I walked over to the service dept. I tell them whats
going on (broke down,100 yards away, no way home)
Dodge service no help at all. No jump, no tow, no ride home.
What a shame. They did try to sell me on a 3500.00 repair.
Thank You again. J.

Check the battery terminals. When mine was loose (because I kept taking it on and off to test things) It built up white flaky residue on the terminal. I had to clean it in order for the truck to start.
