Default Limited slip rear end.

Yesterday I took my 2007 Dodge ram 1500 Quad cab 4x4 to our local dealership for service. I told them that my rear was making a grabbing noise when backing up and when I made a turn. They said a bearing was getting ready to go and they replaced the entire rear assembly. 45,000 miles on it. It was covered by the warrenty, So I only had to pay for the $100.00 deductable and for the fuilds and labor to put them in. Total cost $283.60 .What I don't understand is why did I have to pay for the fluids and to put it in. The Parts guy who is a friend of mine told me yesterday that They replaced three other Rears that same day. it seems that Dodge is replacing a lot of them lately. Will this become a Recall item soon.

We don't do an unusually high number of rear ends. No, it will not become a recall. As for the fluid, Chrysler warranties typically don't cover collateral damage, i.e. contaminated fluid. How many times had you changed the fluid before this problem?

Twice, the first time was when it was due at 30,000 miles and again at 38,000 miles when then noise first appeared. They added the special oil for the pads. The level was low.

Yesterday I got a call from the dealer asking how I liked the service I got the last time I was in. I said it was good except that I didn't understand why I had to pay $183.60 if the warranty covered everything for $100 . They called me back later yesterday and said that I would be refunded the $183.00..Later they called and said that I had to wait 10 days for my check to clear there bank. I called our bank yesterday and the check has already been paid to there bank.So some day I guess I'll get a refund. It's supposed to be mailed to us.

Yeah, I didn't think you'd have to pay for anything but the deductible and fluids and was gonna ask what warranty you have.

Glad they stood up and gave you the refund.
