Default what if.... pondering a moment...

In racing circles, are these guys using factory engine management computers, modified with over the counter type 'chips' ? or are they using a purpose built complete engine control computer?
not just Rams. I am talking any brand, any type racing. Drag, street racing, road course, whatever.
(I got this 'itch' now......)

The race teams use purpose built computers and data loggers. Some also include telemetry to broadcast info back to the pits as the flog it around the track.

B&G Performance has some good tunes that they will flash to a PCM. You pick the tune, send them the PCM (I'd pull one from a upullit junkyard for a spare) and they flash it for ya. They do have some options based on what you are looking for, i.e., low end torque for heavy towing, over the road mileage, mild performance, etc... They can also program a PCM for, say, a Magnum 360 that has become a 408 stroker for instance.

I knew it! if I just keep asking questions... I (hopefully will get up to speed) on this 'newfangled' stuff! Man, doesn't that open up a whole new world. (hopefully not a can of worms). but I just KNEW there had to be more out there than what the general public is offered. ( God Bless America, and Capitalism).
I hope you guys aren't tiring of my incessant questions!
