Thanks chithead, but i got it figured out today,i finally found which two speaker wires feed into the old amp and which two feed out to the back speakers.I got it all hooked up today and the clarion and Jbl's sound really great.now i need to get me a good subwoofer and amp.im thinking about just adding a amp to push the sub and having the ph push the 4 door speakers.does anyone know if this would work out good or do i need to add a amp to the jbl's also.
thanks in advance

A four channel amp would allow you to amplify the JBLs, then you bridge two channels to power one subwoofer. Just make sure the subwoofer has a 4-ohm voice coil.

Thanks chithead and dodgeman70592 (and everyone else) for this great thread. Lots of good info here.
Does anyone know what the crossover frequencies are in the Alpine system? I assume none of the outputs are full range??

Thats correct! Best I can tell they are 1200hz and down on the front doors, 125hz and up on the rears, with a mid boost and high frequency eq cut, and the dash are 150hz and up, with a high frequency boost and midrange cut.

When buying a sealed box for a subwoofer, should you stay towards the higher end of the airspace required of the lower end for the air space requiremt?

Higher end will let it play lower. If you go towards the lower end, you can stuff polyfill in to add a little bit more bottom to it. General rule is 1lb. of polyfill for every 1cu.ft. of volume.

OK Guys, I've searched and couldn't find an answer. What is the easiest way to replace the factory Alpine Sub? I have a 2010 Ram with the 10 speaker Alpine system, and the bass is TERRIBLE!!

All I want is a 10'' Sub in a custom box to replace the factory garbage. Mids, highs, and touchscreen will all remain the same.

Also, feel free to offer suggestions as to what amp/sub combo to use...

I'll have my local shop doing the install, but I want some sense of direction from you guys before I go to them clueless

I'd give JL subs and amps a serious look chad3113. There are cheaper ones out there (kicker, MTX, etc...) but JL really makes some great stuff at a good price.
