Also, I was thinking about connecting a PA Horn to my CB Radio so I can talk out of it. I heard some people say that I need an amp for this. Is this true?

Thanks in advance guys
I have had a PA speaker before on a Cobra CB and didn't require an amplifier. If you want it to be REALLY loud, then I could see where you would.

Default Front 6x9 help

I have a 2002 Ram 1500 SLT with the factory stereo set up. When I fade the audio to just the front it sounds really muffled. There's plenty of bass coming from them (6x9) and you can hear the music, it just sounds like someone is holding something over the top of them. The rears are fine and with them both together the sound is ok. I have an extra set of MTX 6x9's I could put in there but I'm not sure this would fix the problem. I have gone as far as taking off the door panel and cutting off the factory speaker mat over the top if them which eliminated an ugly rattle when the bass hit, but thats it.Any idea on what the problem is and what I can do to remedy it? Thanks,

I'll let the experts chime in here, BAmes79 but two things are probably contributing to this problem. Poor quality speakers that are worn out, or, amp output problems. I'd try those other speakers but I am not sure what your stock system puts out for Watts/RMS or ohms to each channel and what the MTX's require.

Thanks MADDOG, I hooked up the MTX's and they unfortunately were doing the same thing, they're a three way speaker, 200W, nothing fancy. How would I troubleshoot amp output problems? It seems like there should be a logical explanation for this symptom, I just don't know enough about car audio to figure it out... So I'm anxious to hear what some of you guys have to say. Thanks again in advance.

Are you 100% sure it's just the basic set up and not an Infinity system?

I'm not 100% sure as to which one I have, however when I fade the sound to the front there is no noise coming from anywhere but the 6x9's in the doors. I have the 3 vent circles on top of the dash, but I can't see or hear any evidence of speakers in there. How else could I tell?

Do the factory speakers say Chrysler Infinity on the back? You aslo can look for the infinity amp above the heating ductwork behind the glovebox

Sounds like an amp problem if you can't hear the speakers in the doors.

The defrost vent up at the base of the windshield just pops out so it's easy to see if you have speakers there.

The speakers just say 'made in Mexico' and have a couple serial numbers and the Chrysler symbol on them. I didn't see an amp either. It just sounds like you're listening to it underwater or like people in the hotel room next to you are playing music too loud and you can hear it through the wall..

It's possible the front outputs of the deck are going bad....
