The parking brake grommet would be my recommendation as well. I use it for most wires running out of the cab (lots of 'additional' lighting)

Default 2010 Ram 3500 Audio questions

I have a few questions and thanks in advance for any input.

I have in my 2010 the RER Media Center with the Nav. Any feedback on the new Media Centers in the 2011? The reason I ask is a friend, just picked up a 2011 Laramie with the Media Center and Nav, there is a feature that I would really like. It alerts of an incoming text and you can reply to the text as well through the system hands free. The issue is that the majority of my communication is now texting...less and less phone calls, so this feature would be really nice.
So a few questions, any chance there will be a firmware update to the current 2010 Media Center that would allow this?
If not will the new 2011 Media Centre plug and Play to the 2010 truck?

I have not heard of any firmware update for the RER that would allow that. I have an RER in my SRT8 Chally.

As for swapping units, I honestly see no reason why you cant, they all operate on the same bus speed in the 4th gens. Would your friend let you swap units with him to find out?

good point....swap it out and keep on driving LOL...get it back to ya in a week or so.
I know there is updates in technology but I hate when they come out with something you really could use a few months after you buy.

Hey got a question, where's the best place to put an amp in a 2001 dodge ram, and where's a good place to run the RCA and remote wire, because I know you shouldn't run it with the power wire, so could I run it up he middle of he truck, or what???

Thanks
Ryank

Easiest place for you would be under one of the seats. As long as RCA's are ran on the opposite side of the truck as the power wire you are fine.

Question: I really want to upgrade the stock head unit in my 08 Ram. It is a single CD Player with Factory Sirius. I want to get a Double-Din unit with DVD/Nav and Sirius Ready with Dual-Zone so I can run the headrest monitors off of the head unit. I have found several units but most of them aren't Sirius Ready. Would I be better off going with the OEM Nav unit that was an option in 08 ? And does it play DVD ? And could I run my headrest monitors off of it ? I am also unclear as to what else I would need if I went this route. Would I need other stuff to use the DVD and Nav, or is that all built-in ? I already have a factory Nav bezel and a install kit with wire harness, antenna, and plastic surround piece. Any input would be great, Thanks.

What I recommend is find a good spot on the floor of the truck, buff off the paint of that area with a dremel, drill a hole and install a ground lug like this....

As for how to run to the other side of the truck.....Easy, take the seats and door sill panels out to be able to pull back carpet to gain access to the entire floor. You can then loom or techflex your wires and run them where they need to go, and properly secure them.

Well being you have the Nav bezel, harness, double din kit, and antenna adapter, the rest is easy.

There are quite aa few decks that have what you are looking for, just depends on your budget.

What's the din size of the radio for a 98 Ram? I'm starting to look at options for cd decks and was wondering what my options are. Thanks!
