PORTED. End of discussion. Unless you need box size and tuning frequency.

Hey guys after doing a ton of searches i still need some advice on installing my amps in my 2003 Quad Ram. I am installing 1 Alpine mrp-f250 and 1 Alpine mrp-350. I plan on running a 4 ga power cable from the battery to a fused distribution block under the front seats.

First question, where is the best place to come through the firewall?

Second question, i have install a few car audio systems before (in my Jeeps and Nissan trucks) but nothing as nice as a Ram. I want to make it look like a professional install. So my question is, whats the best way to mount my amps? straight to the floorboards, use self tapping sheet metal screws, pre-drill the mounting holes and use regular sheet metal screws.......? I know it kina of a silly question, i just want it to look good.

Thanks!

One of the larger sealed openings is just above and a little bit to the left of the steering column. Take a look at your firewall. There's another one on the opposite side but is hidden behind heater and HVAC boxes and hardware. A lot harder to get to.

My amps are mounted to the floor with self tapping screws. No problems encountered.

Best place to pass through is the clutch master cylinder block off plate right next to the brake booster. It is plastic, has two bolts holding it on from the inside.

I agree with Michael, sheet metal screws are fine. Just make sure you don't puncture anything important on the other side (wires, brake line, fuel line, etc...).

That is ^^^^ the one I was referring to. I've got two holes in mine...front aux light wiring and audio wiring.

I was looking at the service manual and while it's not listed there appears to be one down near the lower portion of the firewall right where the vertical face ends. This must allow for gaining access the the lower area and running thing along the inside base of the floor over to the sills.

As Daniel says, check underneath your truck to make sure your install screws won't poke a hole where you don't want one. And you don't need really long screws.

Default Putting in a sound system and needed a little advice

I'm looking to throw a system in my truck and had a few questions...
Which one of these enclosures would you suggest: http://caraudiofactory.com/-c-22_28_...64e843487d17dc

Does anyone have the under the seat type? Does it distort the sound? Would a single on both sides, pointing at each other be bad?

Second: I have the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab and was wondering what type of amp I should get. I plan on replacing the speakers since they are about to go already and didn't know if I should get 2 amps or 1 since I'll be powering 4 speakers and one (possibly 2 subs). Also I'm going to get a head unit but I'm guessing I would just run that off the battery.

I'm really new to the car audio and figured I bought the truck with the motto "Go big or go home" so why not the sound system too.

I got all my wiring kits and rcas, etc...from onlinecarstereo.com and couldn't be happier with the products and customer service.
