Which one of these enclosures would you suggest: http://caraudiofactory.com/-c-22_28_...64e843487d17dc

Does anyone have the under the seat type? Does it distort the sound? Would a single on both sides, pointing at each other be bad?

Second: I have the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab and was wondering what type of amp I should get. I plan on replacing the speakers since they are about to go already and didn't know if I should get 2 amps or 1 since I'll be powering 4 speakers and one (possibly 2 subs). Also I'm going to get a head unit but I'm guessing I would just run that off the battery.

I'm really new to the car audio and figured I bought the truck with the motto "Go big or go home" so why not the sound system too.
I have no idea what to tell you on the underseat sub enclosure so I'll move on to question 2. Picking an amp is easy as long as you remember several things:

1. Match the ohm spec to what the speakers require.
2. The watt RMS output should be just a shade higher than what the speakers require.
3. The new style digital amps (Alpine PDX series, JL XD series or Kenwood Excelon series) run a lot cooler and can be put under a seat with no problems with overheating.
4. I would suggest a 4 channel amp for your dash & door speakers.
5. I would suggest a separate mono-channel amp for your subwoofer. If you decide to push two subs in the enclosure, make sure the sub you get can power both speakers. Make sure the ohm and watt RMS outputs are correct based on the speaker specs.
6. Check out PacAudio for the appropriate wiring harness adapters you'll need to interface with the stock wiring harness.

I have an 08 Ram(qc) with im pretty sure just the 4 speaker system. i went to Best Buy today and got the deck kit, antenna adapter and they were out of the harness adapter for my new aftermarket deck. my question is, the dude at Best Buy said that the harness was going to be like $130 (part# CHTO-013) he said it had to do with the radio getting power from the ignition instead of the cigarette lighter blah blah and that i could use the cigarette lighter but it was only 2amp may blow a fuse blah blah.... i have replaced decks before and have only had to by a simple harness kit.... do i really need this $130 modulator?? if so anywhere good to get it, if not anywhere good to get a regular one??

THANK YOU in advance

Get the basic harness and run the 12volt switched wire from the deck harness to the cigarette lighter or other 12v switched source. Tapping into the cigarette lighter also helps you retain the RAS (radio after shutoff). The deck will stay on for 5 minutes or untill you open the door.

so the power line that the harness already has wont work running straight to the deck?? i have to physically find the line running to the cigarette lighter and splice into it??

Yes....

The newer Rams (like yours) uses a 5v CanBus system. Aftermarket decks wont trigger on with that small of a reading.

Okay, well it turns out I got scammed buying my amp, paypal got us our money back though. So I got to thinking and I don't want a JL 500/1 amp. I think I want something around 750watt RMS at 3ohms. I'm trying to stay under $300 and I don't know what to buy. Any of you audio gurus have any suggestions?

Have a '11 Laramie with the upgraded audio system. I am not overly impressed with the sound output...have it set for mainly fade to the rear with emphasis on the bass and turned down the trebble. I would like to replace the factory amp with something more powerful. What would you reccomend?

Exclamation Broken Speakers

I got my truck about a year ago and only one speaker worked so first thing I tried is replacing the head unit that didn't fix the problem so a week ago I bought new speakers and this did not fix the problem either any ideas. Do i have to replace the wiring.

Probably means nothing but the speaker that works is the passenger door.

Make sure you don't have an amp under the seat or behind the dash. The problem may reside there. If not, then I suspect all your speaker wiring should be replaced.

OK so I surfed through 24 pages before I decided to join and ask lol....

I'm no stranger to car audio myself, having worked in the field, held competitions, and competed myself. I finally decided to start my audio project in my 2008 Ram Hemi Big Horn, and have run into a bit of a problem. I am installing a Kenwood KDC-X889 head unit, Alpine Type X pro speakers, Image Dynamics IDMax 10", Butler Audio TDB 275, and an Alpine PDX 1.1000. I installed the head unit using the "basic" wiring kit, grabbing the trigger from a 12v source. The h/u turns on and works great with key on, so I went for a drive and the door locks and interior light were cycling on their own. I can't find any reference to the second 3 wire harness that was plugged into my factory radio, I'm assuming can bus, but even Mitchell doesn't show this 3 wire (all green with tracers) harness. Any clues??

Thanks!
