My truck is 2 weeks old and I'm starting to upgrade my stereo system now. I have the Alpine RBZ head unit.

I've purchased a set of JL Audio 3.5" C2's for the front dash and a pair of C2 6x9's for the front door and they should arrive this Friday. After reading the post above, it looks like I need to purchase another set of 3.5" and 6x9's for the rear.

I'm curious to know how I can add an aftermarket Amp. I see that someone installed a Alpine amp under the drivers seat. I wonder how all the speakers are wired up. Are the front dash speakers and front door speakers wired in parallel? Is there a cross-over on them, or are they wired independently? Is it the same for the rear? What by-pass unit should I look for from PAC Audio? I see someone used a PCH8 unit, but that seems a bit overkill for what I want. I would think I want to just buy a factory amp by-pass harness which gives me a low level output to carry over RCA to the new amp.

Also, is there a center channel speaker? I see the grill on the dash, but don't see it vented for sound to escape.

Word of caution, I've read several notes that indicate that 6X9 speakers will not fit in the front doors due to some kind of support bar in the door, I've read that 6.5 speakers are what is needed for that location, 6X9 are said to be OK for the rear doors however... You may want to check on this before buying the 6X9 for your front doors

Good advice, but I already purchased the 6x9's, but only 1 set. If they don't fit in the front doors I guess I'll move them to the rear and get the 6.5's. Thanks for letting me know. Perhaps I'll go ahead and order them now.

It's a depth issue as there is a brace behind the speaker opening in the front doors.

Got two 12" Type Rs. Do not want to mount under rear seat.

Looking to build a custom box that would only take up the middle seat.
Start on the floor follow the same width of the center console and up and rest on the middle seat.

Any suggestions, or pictures???

hmmm....that would be an interesting setup. I've not seen that in a Ram before. Maybe you'd be the first one!

It'll be a project of mine next days off, just going to take my time and plug along with it and see how it works.

I did some measuring and calculations. The damn box is going to have so many angles its crazy, its going to be hard to fit dual 12's in it.
But I am certainly going to try!
Won't be getting done within the month, but will post a thread when I start. If i decide too

Hi all. I just joined. First post. Simple question. I think my head unit is a 730N. Are there video outputs on the back to run headrest monitors? Does anyone have a picture of the back of one. Sorry, I didn't do any searching. Thanks!

I have been surfing this thread for over 2 hours today. I have a fairly simple question for you audio gurus. I have a 2011 Ram, standard cab with the step up from basic sound system. I would like to at some point re do the whole thing from the receiver and all the speakers. I have a budget of $1000. I wouldn't mind using a subwoofer that I currently have as a paper weight on my work bench.

I would need for this: a new receiver(touch screen preferred), dash, door and rear panel speakers, an amp for all channels, and a box for the sub.

I do not want to have to cut up my dash to fit anything not stock sized. Whatcha got?

Edit: If one could get their hands on one of the higher end touch screen decks from the year models, is it a direct swap? If so, is it easy to add aftermarket speakers and the other items??
