Also may I suggest you upgrade your head unit, there have been a few guys who run into issues running adapters etc to stock head units. Not only that, its just a way better head unit, there are tons out there double din, that are cheap and good with a lot of bells and whistles, pioneer 4200 is a decent one, its a dvd double din that you can add GPS etc on as you go if you want, you can find them for 400.00 ebay or other places

Question: are these products compatible with my 2012 Ram 1500 QC Express with the RES radio. Am I going to run into any fitment issues such as speakers being too deep for doors, not compatible with the stock RES radio, etc...Also will the 1 sub be sufficient since i really dont want to lose both underseat storage spots in rear? Any thoughts would be awesome. Thanks!
Bump.....anyone still helping on this thread or did it die? Been waiting to see if i can get an answer from someone on this post and sent chit a pm...no responses from either. Will hang in and wait it out I guess.

Hi New to the board
I have a 2006 Laramie Diesel 5.9L Dually, without Nav. I was about to start looking for an REC Nav unit when I thought perhaps this question has been beaten to death on forums like this.
I am going to buy the Nav Bezel and would like a GPS/CD/FM/Bluetooth unit and hopefully Satellite Radio/TV?

I have no interest in Boom Boxes and huge mods/speakers (I am 63 and not into loud music )

So rather then make a mistake, and spending a bundle on older technology (REC) what "fits" and works well? I do all my own work, I am a retired Electronics tech, and wrench head.
I am aware of the need for the some of the parts like the Bezel, and the Crutchfield in Dash Receiver kit. But really have no idea what Radio/GPS unit would be worth its money? Any help would be appreciated.

You should look into the Pioneer AVIC Z-140BT, or you could save yourself a little bit of money and go with the previous year's model Z-130BT. In either case you get all of the functionality that you are looking for with that unit. In addition to the dash installation kit, you will need to purchase the back up camera, satellite radio tuner module and a bypass switch if you would like to display video while driving. If you are installing this yourself, be aware that some of the metal framing behind the dash will need to by altered to fit a double din radio such as this. Its not hard to do, but if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM, I have installed a similar setup in my truck recently and would be happy to help with more info.

Default Back speakers sound muted?

Hey. I have a JVC head unit. Kicker 3.5" in dash running off the head unit. Kicker 6x9" in the door running off a 2 channel Kicker amp. And I think they are Kicker 5.25" in the back running off the second channel of the Kicker amp.
And a pair off 10" subs running off 1000w amp.
Problem. The back speakers all of the sudden sound muted. I normally have to turn the gain down to keep them from distorting at higher volumes. Now I turned the gain all the way up, and they still sound muted. I have faded them back and forth. The 6x9" are running fine off the same amp. So unless one channel can go out and still put out some sound I don't think it's the amp.
This is weird. Any thoughts/ideas on what to check?
Thanks.

Don't if you have checked this yet, but maybe one of the fuses in the amp went out controling the set of speakers that sound muted. If it is a two channel then should be two fuses and if one set is working and the other is not that might be something simple to look at.

I'm not a audio guru so I'm not sure if one channel can go bad on a amp and not the other, but if you've already verified all the control settings fuses would be the next thing I check. Hope this helps.

Check the fuses on the amp as the other member mentioned. Next, try to isolate the problem by switching the speaker wires on the amp from the front channels to the back and see if the problem then arises with the front speakers. You can do the same thing with the RCA signal wires if needed. You should be able to find the culprit rather easily.

Not sure how how would search this, so I'll just ask. I got a used 2010 Ram sport regular cab, and it has the Alpine nameplate on the dash under the windshield, but does it actually have a premium sound system? There's no back seats, so I can't imagine they hid a subin there, so im curious whether it actually has the Alpine system, a partial Alpine system, or just an Alpine sticker?
