Default Tonneau Question

My wife and I are planning on purchasing a tonneau cover for our Ram. We need it for a road trip cross country to secure/conceal our luggage. I prefer the roll-up or fold up tonneaus over the fiberglass, so I can use my bed.

Ideally, I would like to have to open the tailgate first to square away the tonneau. My question is, does anyone know which tonneaus are the most secure in that aspect?

I know anyone who wants in, is going to get in, but as a cop I also know that anything secure/concealed is less likely to even be attempted.

As usual, any and all assistance is much appreciated!

I don't have a tonneau but I'm pretty sure most/all require the cover to be opened first before the tailgate can be lowered. That's the easiest way to secure both.

i have the truxedo, i love it, looks great, good weather seal and it rolls 100% out of the way (oh and it has a tensioner). you have to open tail gate to open tonneau, but it is a soft top, with all soft tops, a knife will gain access for an intruder, howerver my rule of thumbe...out of site out of mind! hope this helps

look into the LEER 700 series
great looks & painted to match your truck
you can also get the keyless entry option
http://www.leer.com/Truck-Tonneaus#

by the way, i read somewhere that Leer Tonneaus are also sold by the Dodge dealership

I purchased a Paregon. So far so good. It's aluminum and locks and is kind of a cross between a folding tonneau and a rolling tonneau. It's very low profile too.

I have the BakFlip HD . It sits nice & flush with the Box & when you lock the Tail gate the tonneau is locked. You can also drop the Tail gate without lifting the Tonneau.

I purchased the BAK BakFlip G2 cover for my RAM. Low profile and it looks great. Folds back for total use of your bed space.

I've got a Truxedo Duece. I like the fact that if the tailgate is locked the back is locked and the flip up part in the front is the most useful thing ever. There is also a lock for the front part. Keep in mind that most times a thief will just pass by a covered truck and go for the one that is uncovered.

Well I have the Leer 700 with the keyless option and love it. However I am limited to what I can carry and it is not that easy to remove (although it is possible). For what I carry it is perfect.
