Default Chrome clad wheels?

Are you serious. A $50K truck with chrome clad wheels? Have these truck designers ever drove a truck down a gravel road? It is damn near impossible to get the dirt and dust out from behind the wheel cover. This is the most ridiculous thing dodge has ever come up with. The truck is otherwise brilliant.......but, the wheels......stupid.

Dodge isn't the first or only company to use chrome cladding. I'm guessing a wheel manufacturer came up with it and sold the idea to several companies.

Definitely cheaper than a fully chromed wheel and we know the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge lines have had to "decontent" and find ways to cut costs so this is one result.

Welcome to the Z. I agree about the wheels, I have them too...for now.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

Hey folks, this was the biggest (and only) dissapointment when I picked up my red beauty last year. I was shocked, as I did not get right down to the wheels to "verify" if they were real chrome or not as my 2007 was pure rim, no covers. Did not think I needed to check it out....what a lesson learned. If I would have known, I would have put "real" rims as part of the deal as I have seen the Laramie and other package trucks with nice rims.

These rims really make me mad to this day every time I clean them or even look at them. I am budgeting for new rims and rubber in the spring. Then when I sell my truck in a few years I will put the originals back on.

I could understand if I paid 25K for this truck, but I paid a "wee" bit more than that. I expected more out of Chrysler than this...

I am not going to lie, I couldn't stand them on my LARAMIE either! I was very heated after I bought it to find out the truth. This is I think, my one biggest area of dissappointment with Dodge.

welcome to the forum. i guess i try to find a positive in the chrome clad, it kinda sucks how you gotta pay for the option, but they should be more durable than a real chrome rim would be? won't pit due from rock salt. i'm trying hard to be positive here, lol.
