Default Tonno pro tonneau

Hi folks.
I have just purchased Ram and joined the forum few minutes ago.

My first purchase for the truck will be bed cover, does anyone have any experiences with these:
http://www.tonnopro.com/

I am looking for something inexpensive, easy to fold, leak free (we have drop in bedliner), and something that will last through Canadian winter ;-).

Any opinions or perhaps other suggestions on what (or where since shipping to Canada is usually not so cheap) to get and what to avoid.

Thank you.

Peter

That seems like a pretty decent cover for your truck. The tri fold is great if you ever have to put anything in the bed. I have a hard cover that goes over the sides of the bed and it holds up fantastic through any weather. It is great looks great, but when you need to put something back there it sucks haha

Welcome to the Z. Nice looking cover. I don't know anything about them, however.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

I had one similar to that on my F-150. I had no problem with it when it came to keeping things dry. The thing I do not like about a tri-fold is that I lost a third of the space to carry larger things as oppsoed to a full roll up. I'm not sure what bed size you have but i know there is no way I can do one with my new crew cab 1500. Good luck with whatever you decide

First time poster, just got the new trucks in the last few months and found this forum. One of the first mods I wanted to do was to add the covers. I do sometimes carry larger items so I wanted to go with the soft covers that fold. The dealer cost was crazy so I did some research and found what looked like a good deal on line for the Tonnopro. Both my wife and I have 2010 Rams and I got them for both trucks. The white one is a quad cab and the other is a crew.

Overall, I really like the covers and would buy them again. The shipping from the vendor I got them from was fast (three days) and was free. Installation was super easy. It took longer to take them out of the box than it did to install.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone and keep the suggestions coming.

The reason why I like tri-fold is the ease and flexibility, even in the winter when it gets way below freezing, it still should be easy to open and shut. We will rarely have oversized items on the bed so the space is not a concern, and it can be removed and put back on easily.

I do wonder how it can be leak free without any velcro or seal around it though ;-). Ebay has them for about $270, I am not sure if for that price it can be good quality.

I highly recommend that before you buy anything, find it locally where you can go and do the touchy feely. Then go back on the net and compare prices.

I do it with electronics all the time.

My cover does have a rubber seal around the edges and also comes with a tailgate weather strip to further seal the bed. This is included in the price of the cover and is sometimes an extra cost with other covers I looked at. So far, it is working pretty well. We have had some bad storms here in Florida and there have been no water intrusions in the bed. If you have the drop in bed liner, you will want to trim a piece of the weather stripping to fill the gap between the liner and the bed rails to ensure a complete seal.

I paid $269 US for the cover shipped and that included the tailgate seal. I am pretty happy with the quality of the Tonnopro cover. The cover material is think and the aluminum frame is sturdy. They also included extra clamps with the cover in case one breaks down the road.

CajunDodge - thanks for the welcome! I wasn't planning on getting two but the wife "adopted" the first one she liked it so much.

I have a TonnoPro on my Ram and it's going back. There are stains in the vinyl, one at each fold and the folks at TonnoPro can't figure out what it is from. They are being cool about it and giving me a full refund, so yesterday I ordered an Extang Trifecta, a little more money but I've had two of them and no problems.

As for the tri-fold, I've had hard covers on a number of trucks and they look great, but when it comes to hauling something it's a pain. And as for the tri-fold vs a roll up, it takes 2 minutes to take the whole cover off of the truck, and one person can do it.
