Default Enough truck to pull this trailer

I am buying a Puma 31KBHSS which is a pull behind trailer that is 35' hitch to bumper. Total dry weight is 7874 pounds. I am looking at the 2011 Dodge TRX I believe that is the model that has the 3.92 rear axle ratio. I am not going to be doing much pulling probably 3 hours up to the lake then a month later 3 hours home. I was looking at a 3/4 ton but would rather get a 1/2 ton if I can. I just reliezed I put this in the 2010 forum not the 2011... sorry

you can get the 3.92's on SLT, sport, laramine or the TRX. Should pull it fine with the proper hitch

The towing ratings are almost identical between a ram 1500 & 2500 (3.91 gears vs. 4.10)-that is why I purchased a 1500-just made no sense to me to buy a 2500 if towing is the main issue- and a 1500 with 3.55 gear tows about 1,400 lbs less than with the 3.92 (9,900 lbs v. 8,400 lbs)- Therefore, you are fine with 3.91 or the 3.55 gears. If you really have to tow a heavy load with a gas engine- ford is the better choice- the 2011 F250 with the 6.1 gas engine is rated at 12,500 lbs (yes I know we all love our rams but reality is reality).

The new Outdoorsman is rated at 10050 lbs towing capacity, and just ordered one to tow my 5th with. 5th is a Chaparal Lite that peeks out at about 9980 lbs with all tanks full and everything you will ever need for a trip. (that includes grey and black full after a dry camping trip) I have been towing it with my 2002 4.7 1/2 ton but am looking forward to the added power of the Hemi.
