Default Leveling Kit vs Bilstein 5100

Ive seen some people say theyve used Bilstein 5100 to level their dodge, in place of a leveling kit... So whats the advantage or dis advantage here,, I would think the shock is much easier to install ?

The Bilsteins do a much better job than the spacer. I have had both in my truck and like the 5100s much better. They are more comfortable, since you replace the stock shocks. There is vibration in 4x4 since you raise the truck, due to the half shafts being on an angle. The spacer has much more vibration than the 5100s have. It is not bad either way just less with the 5100s. Also when you lift with the spacer the front tires sit closer to the rear of the truck. With the 5100s it actually leaves them in the stock location. It is just a much better way to lift the truck in my opinion. It is more expensive but it is worth it!

i was also wondering about this. My concern was, when the 5100's would wear out, would that cause the front end to sag, and potentially cause an issue with the front tires rubbing?

Very good question. I would say they would start to sag and by the time they did wear out i am sure they would have an even better shock out to install.

I have them installed on my truck, and I love them. I haven't noticed any vibrations when driving in four wheel drive. They are pretty expensive, but I found a website that has them for $102 for each front and $80 for the rear plus free shipping.

my 07 quad cab seems to sit pretty level. it has the 4.7 in it and is pretty well a base model. it doesn't have any blocks at all in the rear. Since it sits pretty level, if i would install the 5100's on the front to have 2" of lift, could I add 2" to the rear and be safe? I would like to raise the rear of the truck with some blocks as well.
